Anything in a pro sport that is not done at the college version is better. That's straight up science.

If I had to bring one college rule over to the NBA, it would be making the "bonus" 1-and-1, and then super bonus for 2 shots. Not sure how they'd make that work with the NBA being quarters vs. halves in college but I love 1-and-1's

I love 1-and-1's too, but I'm actually ok with the 2 shots in the NBA, largely because as you note there's no easy way to change it.

Just do it roughly the same the halves are similar length, 24 min in NBA vs 20 in NCAA. After 7 or 8 it's single bonus then after 10 or 11 it's double for the entire half.

Both of which are more than plausible.

As I sit here watching highlight videos of Wade, I realize how thankful I am that I'm not a Knicks fan watching highlight videos of Rose and Noah.

Phil is taking such an enormous risk. If the Rose and Noah thing is a flop, he's almost certainly going to get canned, I would think. By the time Porzingis is a superstar, Melo is going to be retiring. If they don't get a crazy best-case-scenario resurgence from Rose and Noah, they are screwed.

On that note, Rose is basically playing for his career this year, and Noah's knees/feet should be the freshest they've been in years. What a story that would be if the Knicks were good this year.

I'm still baffled as to how there was so much demand for Noah; there was talk all over the place of multiple teams wanting to give him big deals. I mean, the guy is awesome and I'm glad he's getting paid, but it's not like it was any kind of secret how his legs are basically just a collection of broken popsicle sticks and and rubber hoses at this point. Everything was trending downward for the last 2 years and now he's 31; it's like they were just ignoring all of this. Edited by Sammy Sofa

Yeah, if Noah could play at all, I'd have been pushing to keep him around. But as much as I love the guy, I don't wanna have to watch him hobble up and down the court anymore.

If/when Rose is a disaster you get out of his contract in a year. Noah is a little different but I don't think it's something that would get Phil run out of town.

Noah is probably done because of his knees but the gamble is that he is only 2 years removed from finishing top 5 in the MVP balloting (albeit before knee surgery), Brings energy and leadership, and worse case is still a very good passing big for the triangle. $18 million sounds insane but probably not among the worst 5-7 contracts given out this summer. And if taking 10 months away from basketball gives his knees an extra boost then it could be a decent contract.

I'm reserving some small possibility that it works out in the short term. Like I said, Rose is playing for his career, and he knows it. I personally think he was holding back last year to conserve himself. And yeah Noah has bad knees and feet, but he's had a change to rest them for an extended period of time now. There's at least a chance that they have rebound years, I think.

Long term, yeah, it's a sinking ship. Over the next 2-3 years, Rose, Noah, and Melo are likely going to degrade to basically nothing. Even if Rose has his best year since his MVP year, I can't imagine any team is going to give him a big deal without a games played clause or something.

I was just thinking people in New York are getting a little impatient. How many years are they gonna wait for Phil to figure this out? If Rose gets hurt and Noah continues to regress really bad, that is gonna be frustrating.

One of the key reasons the Bulls moved on from Noah is he has health issues that simply aren't resolved by rest; he's either in too much pain to play or he isn't. It seems unlikely he's going to turn it around.

supposedly noahs legs and feet were as good as they had been in years until he went out with the shoulder injury which is more of a freak injury

i dont believe that but that was the rationale for the signing
