Honestly, I said it before and I’ll say it again: Javy was the one core guy I don’t want under contract into his 30s. He’s a valuable player now with all his physical talents intact, but I don’t want to know what he’s going to look like when his bat starts to slow and he can’t run like he used to. I mean, god bless him, he can’t manage a .300 OBP *now* consistently, what’s it gonna be like in 5 years?
