I mean, rationally you're right. Javy's definitely been nursing some bumps and bruises too..he seems like he's always wincing after making one play or another. So he could probably use the days off.

 

But that doesn't stop me from wanting to see him up there swinging away.

Yup. I want Javy in the All-Star game, but I want everyone else to get some rest. Thought KB was a lock at the beginning of the year. Honestly, I wish the all-star break was a little longer, but it's not possible with the current 162 game schedule.

Yeah I blew it out of proportion but there was a post saying it was "a back injury waiting to happen" and another right above mine that was suggesting it would mess up his swing and it was just my way of saying Im cool with any of our players participating in a HR derby, injuries and screwed up swing myths bedamned

Don't look now, but Javy is leading the team in fWAR, with 2.8.

 

If you had told me a couple seasons ago that Javy would be leading the team in fWAR at the halfway point while still sporting a walk rate below 4% and still striking out more than 25% of the time, I would not have been very rosy about the Cubs playoff odds. But fangraphs has us over 95% to make the playoffs right now.

generally speaking i want cubs to get in the HR derby because it's fun, but the all-star game i couldnt really care less about

 

but i want 2018 javy to get in the game more than ive ever wanted a cub in an all-star game ever

According to this, it took Javy all of, what, 3 seasons to jump atop the leaderboard for the millenium so far. Unless Andrus did it again in the last couple seasons. Not sure how to find the current leaderboards.
