I was very close to buying a Schwarber shirsey, I still want to get one for one of the new kids. Bryant is too *clean* he's the obvious one that everyone loves, I want someone that's a little bit off the beaten path. Schwarber being a big football player that awkwardly fits into a baseball jersey and mashes dingers was perfect.

Maybe I'll go for Soler and lend him some good feels mojo.

I have Russell/Schwarber/Bryant/Rizzo shirseys. I feel like I'm set for a while.

I sort of want a Heyward one, but I feel like 4 is plenty.

Not that I don't think he can do it, but Ross catching 3 games in a row, including a day game after a night game, is interesting.

My shirsey choice was Russell and I am happy with it.

I came very close to a Russell shirsey but ended up getting Arriteta since he's a God. Since then he's allowed 0 runs and threw a no hitter. I'm gonna say that's all me.

That's the one I bought too, although now it's antiquated because of his number change.

Damn that sucks. I bought mine this year so I am rocking 27

If you bought a jersey with just the number, you could have been rocking a Jason Heyward, Addison Russell, Felix Doubront, Logan Watkins, Matt Garza, Carlos Pena, Xavier Nady, Tom Gorzelanny, Kevin Hart, Mark Prior, and Bill Buckner jersey all at the same time.

Prior will always be the true 22 in my heart ;_;

I don't mind owning authentic jerseys of players who have moved on. They represent the guy you cheered for on the team when he was there. I would buy an Arrieta jersey in a heartbeat and have no regrets even if he leaves. He's easily the best pitcher on the Cubs I've had the pleasure of watching since Greg Maddux in the 80's/90's. If he continues to be this good for the duration of the year, and especially if they win the WS, an Arrieta jersey will be representative of a legendary time period in Cubs history.

But if that's not your cup of tea, if you're gonna buy authentic gear I'd probably go in the order of Rizzo-Russell-Bryant if you're concerned about players still being on the team. I'd avoid authentic Schwarber gear at all costs.

Records Jake could be going for tonight if the game is played:

-Any sort of scoreless outing will allow Jake to break Bob Gibson's record for lowest ERA over a 20 start span

-If Jake pitches 5 2/3 straight scoreless innings to start the game he will break the record for most consecutive scoreless innings at home in the modern era (since 1900). Current record is 54 scoreless innings.

-If Jake has a quality start tonight, it will put him 1 away from Gibson's record for most consecutive quality starts at 26

-If Jake starts and the Cubs win tonight, it will break the record for most consecutive team wins in games started by a pitcher (currently 17)

-If Jake throws a no-hitter, he will tie Johnny Vander Meer set on June 11 and 15, 1938 for most consecutive no hitters.

Whats the record for most consecutive no hit innings by any pitcher... and for a starting pitcher?

According to Wikipdia,

Consecutive hitless innings pitched

25.1 – Cy Young, Boston Americans – April 25 through May 11, 1904 (included one perfect game)

Consecutive perfect innings pitched

15.1 – Yusmeiro Petit, San Francisco Giants – July 22 through August 28, 2014 (as starting and relief pitcher over 8 games, 1st and 8th games as starting pitcher and 2nd through 7th games as a relief pitcher)

15.0 – Mark Buehrle, Chicago White Sox – July 18 through July 28, 2009 (as starting pitcher, included one perfect game)

So are we playing this thing?

According to weather.com it looks like any rain should stop by 8:30 or so and then there really isn't a chance of rain until after midnight. So if it doesn't rain to hard that the field is unplayable, I'd imagine we will get it in.
