AKA, Soler was the Cubs 4th best hitter over a 2 week span where the offense was struggling for the majority of it. I'll take any positive news we can get about Jorge though. I want so hard to fully embrace him, he seems like a cool dude and he certainly loves smashing the Cardinals.

He's been cursed by the BABIP Gods and the umpires think his ankles are his knees and home plate is 3' across, he'll bounce back. Unfortunately, his defense is still really bad.

Is it though? I mean, I know he's made some bad plays, but are there stats that bear out that he's bad? I don't know what defensive stats are considered the good ones right now.

Surprised that you'd miss this. Yes, he grades out horribly terribad and it seems like we're always talking about it.

Last year was so bad that I almost wanted to chalk it up as a "he can't possibly be that bad" fluke. This year, he's been worse.

I may be crazy, but I've never lost the belief that Jorge will be really good (at least at the plate). I've been frustrated with him for sure, and my expectations have lowered a bit, but they're still pretty high.

Maybe he's just Soriano streaky and the inconsistent playing time screwed him over.

Or maybe he's still playoffs George and he just starts off slow the first two months like Heyward.

I'm a clinger.

Or maybe he just stinks, I don't know. But 11% walk rate, 24% K-rate (compared to last year) and a .240 BABIP (sorry Duke) is enough for me to keep holding on.

Jorge Soler: Incredibly Handsome and Possibly At Least Replacement-level

I'm not messing with success; I downgraded his thread title and he started sucking less.

he's actually not been quite as bad on defense this year as last year (still terrible.) But he's worse offensively so it balances out.

I'm not sure he has the best idea at the plate yet. His approach is solid and his eye is very good, I think. I just get the feeling he isn't the best at thinking along with the pitcher. He's let some 2-0 and 3-1 fastballs freeze him, even during this little stretch. I think this will eventually improve and then we will see his true form.

I considered buying a CX-5 last year, but didn't because i thought it was too low (height) for a crossover
