I remember back when I invented the current scheduling set-up I considered that and before Minnesota went outdoors at least it was possible. But,

I do not believe teams would agree to start opening day on the road every season, and in some places it's just as likely to be freezing cold on April 7/8/9 as it is on April 1/2/3.
