i go to vegas a lot, especially during the nfl season. there's something both weird as hell and awesome about 10 AM football. the 5pm prime time games really catches me off guard, though.

Ricketts staring at me, for some reason.

May have been the phone camera pointing at him, but I'd prefer to think that he was staring at you like that for 10 minutes straight until you took a photo.

There was a line of fans to take pictures with him and shake his hand, as though he was some sort of celebrity.

After all of the crying about Piss Break Fowler last year, I switched to Piss Break Montero this season and missed the dong while handling my dong last night. Thanks a lot, jerks.

i thought you had both of them as piss breaks last year

I just kept forgetting Montero existed.

Monday night football games in Honolulu are weird. Early season games start at like 2:30 out there before clocks change. College football games at 6 AM aren't for me.

I've only been once. It was amazing, you're fucked up drunk by noon, you stay drunk until about 7 or 7:30 then you have like 7 more hours to get MORE DRUNK.

i love that probably our worst (er, least good) regular went 2/5 with a HR and 3 RBI while having some great textbook ABs...already responsible for a tenth of a win (or at least more than .05 of one) last night

Yeah I've gone the past 2 Thanksgivings with my dad and brother from Thanksgiving day-Monday, that whole long weekend is crazy in terms of having to be up at 7 or 8 to start watching/betting on games and then being drunk before noon everyday.

Heyward, Rizzo, Bryant, Schwarber go 2 for 15 and we still drop a 9 spot.

I need to get to Vegas again. I used to go 2-3 times a year from 1999-2013. Football in Vegas is great except for Super Bowl Weekend. Too crowded, table limits are jacked up, and you pretty much better get your bets in the day before Super Bowl Sunday. I love the regular season weekend trips and Conference Championship weekends the best.

Great game that was. But I feel as though I'm not yet conditioned for these west coast road trip shenanigans.

7pm starts are awesome for us Californians.

I'm so acclimated now that I feel a little bit annoyed I have to wait all the way until 7 p.m. for a sporting event.

Yeah, I get what you are saying. But, there is generally something on starting as early as 4pm to bridge the gap. It's weird that 9 to 5 people on the west coast miss a good portion of their favorite team's games while they are touring the eastern half the continent.

I love Sunday morning Bloody Marys at 9am while the pregame discussion kicks off for NFL weekends. I hated that in the days that I lived in Illinois, liquor stores didn't open until noon on Sunday and games started at noon, also. If you got too drunk on Saturday to save beer or remember to buy beer for Sunday, you missed the beginning of the game waiting for the clerk to lazily unlock the door so you could race in and race out. And standing there with the other poor souls with Bear's jersey's waiting for the door to be unlocked was just painful. And generally FREEZIN' ASS COLD.

Look at the new dad daydreaming about Vegas.

what in the world? how did this guy win a cy young? is this possibly the worst cy young winner ever?

i wanted to figure it out without looking up, but i can't even guess at which season it was. it can't be 84, so i suppose it must be 82, but i still can't wrap my head around that being true.

I had his baseball card in many forms.

he led the league in saves in '87 with a sweet ass beard. Saves were a relative novelty and nobody knew anything back then

that has to be the lowest war total for any cy young winner ever, right?

Without actually looking him up, i'm imagining it's Steve Bedrosian, and I think I remember him playing for the Cardinals and Braves, with his CY coming with the Braves as a closer?

Hahahhaha, I never would have guessed that Steve Bedrosian didnt even reach 7 WAR in his career. My brother and I would call him "Bedrock Bedrosian" which may have been his actual nickname.

It's in an annoying slideshow format, and they misnumbered it for some reason, but this Jesse Spector article has Bedrosian as the worst Cy....

it was kinda a weak class. they just didn't want to give it to nolan because of his lack of winnability.
