any lawn experts here?

how much time does it take for sod to settle in and have the grass roots extend into the ground?

typically it takes a couple weeks to even begin to establish root structure so I am going to assume they have some sort of grass PED?

My first house, in Boise, was new construction, and we had a sodded front lawn, and a hydro-seeded back lawn, which was apparently extremely common for those houses. And boy, I wish we'd just hydro-seeded the whole damn thing. It looked so much better. It looks ugly at first of course, but it really only took a year for it to just look fantastic. Meanwhile we had a ton of trouble with the sod not taking root well.

The Reds have been affiliated with many hateable people.

though on the other hand, living deity kent mercker played for the reds so not all bad?

You guys left out the Alpha and the Omega:

I don't associate the reasons I dislike Joe Morgan with the Reds. He was one of my favorite non Cub players when he played.

Is Montgomery out of the rotation now? I see that MLB At Bat has Lester as the probable for Wednesday now. I know that is hardly official, but maybe I missed something.

Check the rotation thread. There's an article about it.

the answer being he's not out of the rotation, he's pitching thursday. Lester is lining up for first playoff game start.

re: Montgomery, I thought I heard Len say this weekend that his next start was his last, did I make that up?

I didn't hear it but that would make sense. He pitches Thursday, then the remaining 5 starters go back into normal rotation, with one more off day on the 22nd and probably a final weekend bullpen game. Lester would be going on normal rest next outing but still have an opportunity for extra rest the next couple outings and probably before the 10/7 opener.

BCB asked who everyone's favorite 2016 Cub is and the results are interesting I guess. Most things at BCB suck but there is a sheer high volume of responses so interesting to see. #mildlyinteresting

ahahaha HENDRICKS? I mean, I love his game, but good grief you pick him? Must be the weirdo pitching obsessives vote.

In the thread, Al mentioned that his vote would be for Hendricks, so I'm guessing all the votes are from people who live in fear of being banned from the comments of BCB.

that was my initial response, thinking it was the same people who loved Theriot. But anytime a guy outperforms your expectations by that much, you have to imagine he becomes a lot of people's favorite. Kris Bryant is mine, but he's doing exactly what I thought he'd do. He's been legit fantastic.

I think I would vote for Bryant, but it would be really hard to pass up Rizzo and Russell, not to mention a handful of others.

I think I said it last year too, the best thing about this iteration of the team is that it's damn near impossible to pick a single favorite.

Bryant is obviously the best player and seems like a nice enough guy himself. Baez is the most fun to watch play. Russell is so smooth out there. Schwarbs is a monster. But I just love Rizzo's overall personality combined with his ability.

Willson is probably my second favorite already, though. Love that guy.

what's fun is that someone could throw out like the 10th best player on the team as his favorite and it's not really laughable

what's also funny about that poll is that hendricks is cool and good and all but he's so objectively boring in every way (especially compared to any of his teammates) that it's hilarious for him to even get a lot of votes, let alone win in a landslide.

basically what i mean is i would be less shocked if a terrible but fun player were winning...like kawasaki, if he'd been on the team more, or something. hendricks being very good but not one of our 4-5 best players plus also being boring and on the same team as a bunch of fun cool guys should be a virtually perfect recipe for very few votes.
