We tried to go nights and weekends to full season last year and they basically laughed in our fat faces. I don't think you'll be able to switch to bleachers unless there's a host of people that were just in it for the 1st WS.

 

You can't got back to nights and weekends from full season, either. Weird.

 

Not that weird. They know they have you by the balls.

 

I was shocked when they let me "downgrade" (I moved from the back of the field boxes on the 1B side to the front of the terrace boxes on the 3B side) a couple years ago. But that was still before 2015 happened...who knows if they still even allow that.

Where'd you see that? I was always under the impression that there were ~20,000 seats occupied by STH.

I think it's accurate. Look at attendance numbers from cold April midweek day games from 2012 and 2013. Those numbers are pretty instructive - while I'm sure not every ticket purchased for those games were STH, of course, I'd be willing to bet that there were only a few thousand at most that weren't.

My seats are UD midfield, 7 rows back. This year, I struggled to get face value at re-sale all season. Thinking about moving to the bleachers, as it seems these re-sell a lot better. People with bleachers or UD seats, what do you think? I'll typically go to 25% of the home games and sell the other 25% of my half-share.

I'm in the very front 200s and I struggled to get back face (after fees) for most of the first half of the season. In the second half it picked up and I was profiting nicely on weekend games, at least. Weeknights were still nothing to write home about.

If what you're saying here is that your seats are better than joe schmoe thinks they are because of their positioning, I'm riiiiiight there with you. Which is why I want to move to the bleachers. The rubes overpay for those, and when I want to go to a game to actually enjoy it, I'll swap them out for grandstands day of.

Same thing happens with my IF UF Box. Those are awful seats in just about every stadium except Wrigley.

I think STH accounts have to account for much more than 10k seats. There are just so few choices when it comes to relocation each year. It would seem odd that they would only allow 1/4 of the park to be available for STH and now allow them more liberty in choosing locations including upgrading from combo to full season plans.

When do you guys typically sell your seats? How far in advance of the games? You have to watch the number of tickets available. Sometimes you need to be selling weeks in advance. Other times you should be selling day of the game.

Yeah, the UD Box are some of the best seats in the house, but you certainly pay for them. In our group, we have 2 there and 2 in UD Reserved. The UD Box are more than 2x the cost for almost all games and usually sell for around face, whereas the UD Reserved sell for well above face (when the team is good, obv.).

 

As for the 96%, maybe it's a total dollar value thing that is some BS math? Say a great 1st level ticket is face $100 but sells for $300 and a UD Reserved is $20 face and sells for $30. That's a total face value of $120 and resale value of $330--that's a 175% over face total, right?

They're definitely talking total dollars of all seats. Thinking it through you've got 12% in taxes, 10% on the buy, 10% on the sell. Math is getting closer to not outrageous.

Yep, I'm with you guys. I have very good 200 level terrace box seats, but people typically won't pay more than they would for terrace reserve 20 rows back. Everyone who we sell tickets to directly seems genuinely surprised when they get to the game and realize how good the seats are. The only thing worse margin-wise is Upper Deck Box. I love upper deck seats, buy I avoided getting Season Tickets there because I know they just don't sell well.

On the other hand, you get a view just as good as the rear field boxes for terrace box prices, so it's not the worst thing.

The mistake I made was that I purchased them because they were great value to ME, and didn't really consider their poor value on the secondary market. Whoops. A move to the bleachers is me reversing those concerns.
