Welcome, Cardinals fans, to a world where every bunt is a BEAUTY!!!! (even if it is bunted right back to the pitcher)

Seems like a pleasant enough guy, but if he wasn’t a Caray, he wouldn’t have gotten any of these jobs.

You know Thom (stupidest way to spell Tom) Brennaman has already reached out to the Braves. 80% of the fan base loves off-color jokes about marginalized people.

Scott Rolen to the HOF.

I'd tried to talk myself into think A-Ram was better, but yeah, I can't argue with it. I'm still allowed to be annoyed it didn't take him as long as Santo to get in, though.

I have no issue with Rolen being in, he had a perfectly good career. But if the gatekeepers think he’s a HOF’er there’s like 40+ guys who need to be in too, imo. Which I’m cool with since it should be a history of the game thing vs some contrived voting values with all sorts of moving targets.

It's wild to me how fickle the voters are. Edmonds has 5 less fWAR and didn't make it past the first year of voting. Absolutely ridiculous.

Rolen is a top 10 offensive third baseman and top 5 defensive third baseman.

Are there eligible guys who deserve to be in before him? Sure. But 40? Maybe a half dozen if you exclude steroid scandal guys.

I count 15 guys with 60+ WAR that aren't in who aren't eligible yet, either banned, steroids guys, from the 1800s. Lou Whitaker, Bobby Grich, Dwight Evans, and Luis Tiant are probably the biggest misses on that list.

Whittaker’s absence from the Hall at this point is inexplicable. Except that a majority of the guys in that 60+ WAR range that aren’t in the Hall (and aren’t steroid guys) all played in that same 70-80s time frame.

Grich, Evans and Tiant all fill the same bill. As do Reuschel, Nettles, Buddy Bell, Willie Randolph, Reggie Smith, Tommy John, Bando, and Keith Hernandez.

Throw in Thurman Munson who played the same position and had a higher WAR than Campanella while dying three years younger than Campanella was when he had his career ending accident. (To be fair, Campanella didn’t make his MLB debut until age 26 due to segregation, while Munson debuted at age 22.)

Guillermo Zuniga is a Colombian reliever in the WBC and is now in the Cards organization after stints in the Dodgers and Braves organizations. He has dominated in the WBC and I fully expect him to be great for the Cards after being just a guy previously. When he's got 75 IP with like 5 total earned runs later in the season and we all hate his guts, you heard it here first.

Of the division mates, the Cards have definitely had the toughest schedule to open the season.  But 4.5 games back of the Brewers already still seems like really bad news.

Hey how are the Cardinals feeling about Contreras after a few weeks?

<snip>

That’s just today

With the caveat that it's Twitter so I'm sure much worse stuff is out there, but Cards fans saying a Hispanic player sucks is fairly tame. And to be fair, you can say that about all fan bases.
