Passan-Former Cardinals scouting director Chris Correa sentenced to 46 months in jail for hacking Houston Astros' computer system, per @dfbarron.

Passan-Now that Chris Correa's sentence has been levied, Major League Baseball plans to come down with punishment on the Cardinals for the hack.

That sounds quite excessive to me. Can MLB now punish the Cardinals before they steal anymore juicers in next year's draft?

Sure would have been nice if this would have happened before they just had a really good draft class. Anyways, take their 2017 draft and INTL period away and I'm happy. Should be at least that much, based on how hard Boston got hit.

There's a really solid Oscar Taveras joke in there somewhere.

Cameron is underestimating the potential of the situation. This is essentially one corporation look at the trade secrets of the other. That kind of information is potentially business crippling. If Pepsi finds out Coke is rolling out new drink in January and they beat them to market with their own version in December, that could cost Coke hundreds of millions of dollars.

Damn, and that was a plea deal, too.

I mean, horsefeathers the Cardinals and all, but sending someone to jail for this sort of thing seems dumb. Just make him pay a ridiculous fine.

Punishment in order of personal preference:

1. Entire organisation is contracted.

2. Loss of every draft pick for the next 50 years.

3. Indefinite postseason ban.

4. Forced to play Pete Kozma at SS for the next 10 years.

They're planning on going over their international cap this year so forfeiting their 2017 international signings isn't too big a penalty.
