Dest is a true bad boy.

Sergi Roberto is out several months so should be plenty of PT available for Dest. First Barca goal - did he have a CL goal for Ajax?

Only in the domestic cup.

He played less than 40 games for Ajax. It's been a quick, quick rise.

More than anything, I love his mentality. He has that Clint Dempsey gear in terms of not giving a horsefeathers and being willing to try stuff at any given time. It doesn't matter if he's playing in the Champions league or in a BS friendly against Panama. He'll find a way to flex on whoever he's playing. He's just audacious.

What a bittersweet life. As the son of Argentine immigrants, Maradona was a hero for me in 1986 but sort of represents the end of naivete as he repeatedly fell from grace as I became an adult.

sadly wasted 90 minutes of my life watching two of the "top" PL teams play out the most boring 0-0 draw I have ever seen.

i knew it was gonna be ugly so i took my ipad to the gym and watched it on the elliptical so at least it wasn't a total waste of time

Yeah, not surprising in the least. Spurs weren’t going to come out of their shell unless Chelsea scored. Same strategy as last week.

That was part of it, but the number of bad touches and bad passes was shocking. It put to bed any fears I had that Chelsea didn't really need Pulisic - they do. Hope he can stay healthy (in other news, Eden Hazard is injured again).

Am I being too contrarian by not being overly excited about Alvarez? Like not in the way that I kinda recoiled in disgust at seeing Djordje on the roster, but in the sense that even if you limit yourself to say, attackers not old enough to drink, I don't know that he's more advanced or exciting than Pomykal, Bassett, Aaronson or even Amaya, to say nothing of the legion of Euros we just got at least a brief look at, more positionless guys like Busio or Ferreira, etc. Certainly not a bad thing he's involved though, need as many lotto tickets as you can get.

On a different note, it's a little weird there isn't much of a 6 in this roster at all. Some of that might be fixed after the two western conference games(one of Busio/Dotson will be available, and one of Tessman/Roldan) but even in that group there's no obvious fit.

Apparently Alvarez is only on for the camp as he isn’t prepared to do the one-time switch for a BS friendly during covid.

I don’t know much about him beyond the hype. Certainly love the idea of packing a future el tri building block.

Also for the record, I am team Dike > Akinyola. Really hope he makes a statement in camp.

Shakhtar downs Madrid again . . . wow. They may actually go out in the group stages. Gotta wonder if failure to win at Sevilla this weekend will be the end of Zidane -if he lasts until the weekend.

Fun scenarios - With a loss against Borussia, Real Madrid will be out of Champions League. If Inter were to beat Shahktar, Madrid would be out of Europe entirely with a loss. With a draw, RM will need an Inter win to stay alive.

Athletico also will to avoid a loss to Salzburg to stay alive. The CL could be Madridless in a week.

Steffen to start for City today making his champions league debut. He seems to get forgotten in the Americans in Europe conversations (I guess because he seldom plays).

So apparently the 4th official said something racist to Demba Ba in the PSG-Basaksehir game and both teams walked off.

EDIT, sounds like it was said to an assistant coach, not Ba
