I’m against the move because Chelsea are a badly run organization, but I have no issues with him taking a huge pay raise to play for a glamour club in London. I actually could see him there for a long time, getting reasonable minutes. He won’t be a starter but similar to Mikel Obi, he’ll serve a distinct purpose as the defensive specialist and depth guy.

I’m fine with it. I just don’t want to watch.

he can do what he wants to do - no problem with that - I think it's bad for his development and thereby bad for the USMNT. IDK - maybe Poch makes it better

LOL Haaland takes exactly 4 minutes to open his tally for the new season.

3 minutes 5 seconds if you're being exact

and KDB 20 minutes to be hurt . . . still beats Gio's -65

Kane on Bayern Munich will take some getting used to.

25 minute runout and I'm not sure he touched the ball as BM got torched by Leipzig in Munich

It sucks that he's gone but it was the right thing to do when he wouldn't sign a new contract. I hope he returns in 3 years to break the EPL goalscoring record. I'm glad they got a shitload of money for him but wish the deal could have been done more than 2 days before the new season started.

As promised: very much a baptism by fire for Gabriel Slonina this afternoon as he was on the recieving end of a 0-5 drubbing by Club Brugge am Kehrweg this afternoon (no complaints from this Bruges fan about the result 😉 )

Should have avoided the third goal (committed to a corner and didn't get there, was subsequently headed in by a guy at the far post), but no chance on the other four. Made two crucial saves to avoid an even worse result - all in all not a fair game to evaluate his talent, but as I stated earlier, he'll have a full workload at Eupen.

So, now Mbappe is staying at PSG. Funny thing is, PSG would probably do better if they signed only Parisians . . .

Caicedo to Chelsea seems to be happening so where does that leave Tyler Adams?

Also, Dest needs a new team. Didn't even make the squad today (too bad because the game was basically an un-refereed brawl).

lol, I'm as much of a keeper apologist as there is on these but that is a stone cold penalty, the EPL's VAR decisions are always great entertainment.  You can almost tangibly feel their hubris getting in their own way.

I absolutely loathe the "ref called it this way" excuse - just get the call correct.

Messi looks like he’s really havin fun

I'm trying to understand relative levels of competition here. Would this be akin to Lebron playing in NCAA right now or is it not quite that bad?

basketball is 5v5 versus 11v11 so not sure that analogy really works and also that becomes a physical thing (being full grown etc). then again, Messi did this in La Liga 12 years ago so maybe . . .

Something like if Verlander had signed with a AA team this year instead of the Mets.  Post-prime, still very good and better than this level but not at past peak.

I'll also add that I underestimated how much Miami was able to remake their whole roster.  Someone pointed out that tonight's starting lineup has 10 full internationals and only like 4 of them played in their last MLS game(a loss I saw in person), so a lot of the 'Messi single handedly pulled a team from the bottom of the table' is gonna be overstated even if he is easily the most important piece.

He’s had many many stretches like this in his career, but yeah, pretty much. He’s got opposing coaches and defenses on tilt, overcooking their tactics to stop him, and the only real surprise has been Miami’s roster construction being sneaky good. Philly “contained” him and Busquets and just got cut open by everyone else.

I don’t care but I’m happy we’re pissing off the FA on the eve of their biggest natl team match since my old ass parents were toddlers. That’s fun to me.

Speaking of the game, the Spanish FA are pigs to women and England is England. What a crap final.
