Got a huge boost by being on Black Friday in November. Stick that game on June 20th or whatever and it's still widely watched, but I bet plenty of casuals watched because it was US-England and they were being lazy at home the day after Thanksgiving

Germany saved by Costa Rica, now need a draw today and win vs Costa Rica to advance.

Unless Japan beats Spain, right? Then Spain and Germany would be on 4 and Spain probably has the GD. Unlikely but with the way this Cup is going, I'm not ruling anything out.

A Japan/Spain draw would also make it come down to GD/tiebreakers in that situation.

3-1 Croatia. Barring a miracle over the last 20 mins Canada will be out after 2 matches yikes

If Croatia plays like this in the final game, they will eat Belgium’s old defenders alive.

Shot it right through the defender’s legs, lol

that's actually very common and intentional

I'm sure it is, it just hurts watching a replay

hope that didn't sound condescending . . . it was something that surprised me when I started watching a lot of soccer.

It didn't. My comment was just in watching the slo-mo replay and thinking "if the defender barely moves their foot that's not a goal"

Great news, guys! I caught the RSV going around so I’m going to be home for Iran game. I can barely talk but still extremely worth it.

Oof, get well soon. I took last week off and woke up to 11 goals before I could even caffeinate in my first day back in the office, and now I have a ton to catch up on so I'm limiting myself to only blocking my calendar for the 2nd half tomorrow (for now).

Thankfully Tuesday is one of my working from home days so I’ll be able to watch the whole thing in peace.
