Seattle gets a second on the counter after some beautiful passing. Up 2 with 10 minutes to play. Just like the other game this afternoon...

Feel like last night was a turning point for the top clubs in the league. Their depth was tested and they still dominated. In the past, salary cap issues made rosters too thin to manage multiple competitions and injuries.

I think I've made this point before, but I think it highlights that the gap between Liga MX and MLS is really just the gap in the top 2-3 Liga MX spenders and who happens to be at the top of MLS the rest of the year. After last night, MLS v. non-Monterrey(Tigres & Rayados) teams are .500 in the current format that started about 5 years ago. So the Sounders definitely benefitted from neither of those teams(or Club America if they built a good team) being in this year's tournament, but also MLS sends unworthy teams to CCL fairly often through the domestic cups(especially the Canadian Championship), so that doesn't take away from the accomplishment or statement on league quality.

I agree with this point but it is great! Just for the perception value if nothing else.

Thank you Newcastle! Now Spurs just need to beat an already relegated Norwich to get 4th.

Given the GD should really only need a draw.

That said, Arsenal please roast Everton so Leeds can have a better shot at safety and the dream of getting to see Pickford react to getting relegated stays alive.

You’re right. For some reason I was thinking Spurs were only a point up.

Nooo Everton has to stay up. I'd be pissed. Hopefully they can take care of business on Thursday and then the weekend results won't matter.

If that Sunday game matters for Everton, their best bet might be to try and keep it 0-0 for the first half and hope Spurs go up like 4-0 on Norwich so Arsenal knows their done.

Yeah, and hopefully at that point Brentford is beating Leeds. All Everton needs is at least 2 points from their 2 games OR for Leeds to not beat Brentford (also scenarios involving Burnley but since they have 2 matches left, its less clear). Sounds pretty likely but Everton seems cursed this year so who knows.
