Anybody care to summarize why I'm seeing various Chicago sports media people timing? their showers?

Does it have anything to do with the story that was going around of some athlete (football? baseball?) who claims he takes 90 second showers?

That is [expletive] disgusting.

I know the story Derwood is talking about though....some player that is like crazy about environmentalism and takes short showers to save water.

Suter’s interest in the environment started early in high school, when his mother rented “An Inconvenient Truth.” He started carrying a water bottle to lessen his use of plastic. He showered for 40 seconds or so on average. He studied environmental science and public policy in college and figured eventually he would wind up consulting companies on how to get greener. Last season, cognizant of farming’s harm to the environment, Suter stopped eating meat midseason. A rotator-cuff strain ended that experiment.

It's still disgusting. It's not a waste of water to be horsefeathering clean.

It's really easy to take a short shower and get clean.

My problem is it takes 45 seconds to get the water warm.

A short shower (let's say less than 5 minutes) makes sense. 90 seconds or less is absurd and gross.

I think I could pull it off, but why?

iirc, the way the article described it is that he turns the water on briefly to get wet, then turns it off while he scrubs up. Then he rinses off. So it running water for 90 seconds, but the "shower" takes five minutes or so.

That makes more sense. Bottom line, if you're leaving soap on any part of your skin for less than 15-20 seconds it's not doing horsefeathers, and shampoo and whatnot really should be in your hair a good 2 minutes for it to actually do anything besides just making it smell better.

I've taken lots of sub-2:00 showers and gotten clean. But that was back when I was in the military. The key was not really having any hair.

Even then, 90 seconds or less would really be pushing it.

I do find it funny. I'm sure the formerly employed hosts do as well.

WTF, it sounds like Comcast is dropping the Big Ten Network next month

This is likely what will finally break my grip on Comcast.

What kind of Stockholm Syndrome madness is this? There are a million reasons you should already have told Comcast to pound sand

There are no other good internet providers in my area for some reason. AT&T is but all reviews say it sucks in my town. I could just stick with them for internet, but I haven't pulled the trigger yet.
