Feels like he's got a very familiar swing, but I can't quite place who I think it looks like

It seems like a mix of Yellich, Joc, Bellinger and Happ. Taller stance and a little open, arms high and kinda lanky and the finish kinda falling towards 1B dugout.

Yeah I think Bellinger is who I was thinking. Bellinger is more uppercut-y but I think that's it

Don't know why, but Todd Helton comes to mind when I see that swing.

Then again, it's been like 15 years since I've seen Helton's swing so I could be totally off here. I know he used to have a way open stance, but then he closed it during his career at one point and that's the swing I'm thinking of.

Bryan is amazing, but it's really weird to me how he keeps trying to put Kilian at AA. Early in the offseason in his depth charts he had Espinoza at AAA and Kilian at AA, and now this. It's just a really weird thing to be so insistent on? Kilian had a damn near 7/1 K/BB at the level already last year, he's not going to start at Tennessee for the sake of Steven Brault

I'm thinking that Amaya not yet being put on the 60 Day IL despite all of the roster crunch last week is an encouraging sign? Obviously he'll be limited to DH and maybe 1B duty this year, but maybe late April/early May is on the table?

He has to be added to the 25 man(and then accrue service time his entire rehab) in order to be put on the 60 day, I think.

He's going to be really good, and with him already being on the 40 man he's either gonna be first or second man up from Iowa this year.

They really should just break camp with him. Especially with a 15-man pitching staff. He seems ready, don’t waste any bullets down in Iowa. He’s a RP only, possibly a very high leverage one. If he was a starter or even multi inning guy I’d get maybe sending him down to start the year to refine a thing or two but he seems mostly like a finished product.

I kind of wonder if they're being cautious with the new 5 Option rule? Run all the NRIs out to open the year, and then slowly incorporate the Iowa crew to make sure you can limit how many times you have to yoyo guys and risk potentially sending someone down for good earlier than you want.

Separately, there's a ton of great stuff in this Keith Law piece

I won't copy/paste it all, but the Kohl Franklin section is niiiiiice

Tuesday brought me over to the Cubs’ back fields for their A-ball games against the Giants, with the Cubs rolling out a murderer’s row of prospects — their No. 2, 3, 5, 6, 7 and 8 prospects were all playing, while their No. 15 prospect, right-hander Kohl Franklin, made a strong argument that that’s about 13 spots too low. Franklin missed all of 2021 with the world’s longest-lasting oblique injury, but he looked unfazed by the time off, working 94-99 with explosive late life and two plus pitches in his power curveball and changeup. He may not pitch that much this year after two years of nothing, so I wouldn’t expect him to see the majors until 2023. I hope Tennessee Smokies fans set up Kohl Franklin’s Nu Nation in the stands when he pitches, though.

There’s a lot of talk going around about various pitchers throwing harder this spring than ever before, like [Kohl] Franklin did. Multiple people have told me Bobby Miller (Dodgers, No. 49) hit 102 and sat 99 in a four-inning look, and he might be the best right-handed pitching prospect in the minors right now. …[/Quote]

Man horsefeathers that horsefeathering team. A guy barely in their top 50 is just going to emerge as another Buehler/May wtf

The South Bend and Tennessee rotations are just absolutely loaded, and Kilian could probably start an MLB game by Memorial Day if needed.

Not happy about this... Dodgers always draft well and have a great player development department.

Incredible arm and he's from Illinois and is also a huge Cubs fan. I pray we don't regret passing on him.

I wrote that almost 2 years ago in the 2020 MLB Draft Day Thread... He isn't just suddenly emerging out of nowhere. Bobby Miller has always had good stuff and a great frame (just questions about his command/could he throw enough strikes to be a starter).
