Just stop horsefeathering doing it. If you want to talk about Keith Law and his ranking that's fine, but don't deny your post had nothing to do with what I wrote and posted.

Oh, I'm 100% denying it had anything to do with what you wrote. It had everything to do with what you posted, sure.

That right there. I wouldn't even comment on something you posted here because I have problems with you and your dumb opinions. Whatever. You're totally allowed to comment on rankings and stuff, but try to bring it up on your own and avoid me here.

Good. .166 IsoSLG in college PLUS no CCL? Meh, lets get some high ceiling

Another example... I never brought up Braden Shewmake (to you) in the draft thread btw. That was you commenting on something I wrote. You made that comment and you do this all the time. I never commented on any prospect or post you made until that point in that thread (I was actively avoiding whatever you wrote).

I can literally show dozens of times of you acting like this here. Just stop interacting with me and think before you decide to write something after I post something in any thread here.

I don't see a great the case for Hoerner as a top 50 prospect either, but it would be convenient to see him on one or two. If he did, I suspect alot of it would be on the Cubs' history of first round college bats. Law hits the nail on the head harping on the tools and missed games/reps in the wider world of MLB and over the long haul.

I wonder if he's basically Castro with better timing and in an org more willing to move around guys with defensive question marks - BABIP fueled offense, some power, can make a fun play at SS and is mostly competent but no one will say *good*, faster in a straight line but not particularly quick or athletic, not projectable or big, questions about patience. There's alot of use a team like this can get out of a guy like Hoerner, but it's also not hard to see there being 50 better and/or more interesting prospects out there

Castro is a really good comp. I'd expect a few more walks but that's not enough for me to quibble.

Yeah I like a Starlin/Lemahieu (taking out some of the Coors inflation) type with more walks as a comp and also at least a little more versatile defensively.

Lemahieu has been the high end comp I've been running with. A solid MLB regular with peak years that that sit in him the 3.5 to 4fWAR range.

Brennen Davis! https://blogs.fangraphs.com/we-adjusted-several-prospects-rankings/

Brennen Davis, CF, Cubs (45 FV to 45+ FV):

Davis has improved his timing and comfort at the plate, and while his swing still has an awkward, abbreviated finish, he’s shown unexpectedly good bat control and flashes of impact opposite field power.

Amaya is 57th, Hoerner 59th and Ademan 105th. If you extrapolate out, Alzolay is 135th and Davis 136th (they stop ranking at 125).

Who can we bring up so we can shoot Brach into space?

Carl is pretty much ready to come back, iirc, I think he’s scheduled to go in Iowa tomorrow. Would assume he’s up Soon.

Happ needs to be starting for the Chicago Cubs tomorrow. He's hot and there is just a couple weeks until the deadline, It would be lame to trade him without another shot. Wish he was there tonight since he has great numbers off Castillo

Give me a couple of under-the-radar guys you like in the AZL

Eric A Longenhagen: I put the Rangers guys on The Board. Heriberto Hernandez, Ovalles, Florentino. Keyber looks better Jorge Juan, big righty from Oakland, was 90-94 last time I saw him after he was 88-92 during extended. He’s a rare physical presence, he’s young, the arm is getting better. He’s interesting. Fabian Pertuz with the Cubs has a swing suited for catching fastballs up in th zone. His 2018 statline was not an accurate representation of his tools but he’s kinda sleepery

I don't know exactly what Longenhagen was describing when he said Pertuz's 2018 statline was not "an accurate representation of his tools". Less power? More power? But Pertuz's 2019 statline must not be representative either because it's pretty similar, and the OPS is nearly identical...

2018: .298/.419/.427

2019: .351/.398/.446

BA released their midseason top 30 prospects for all teams. The Cubs: https://www.baseballamerica.com/stories/chicago-cubs-2019-top-30-mlb-prospects-midseason-update/

1. Nico Hoerner

2. Miguel Amaya

3. Brennon Davis

4. Adbert Alzolay

5. Brailyn Márquez

6. Cole Roederer

7. Chase Strumpf

8. Ryan Jensen

9. Ethan Hearn

10 Ryan Gallardo

Only glaring omission I saw in the top 30 was no Christopher Morel.

Also, José Albertos has a fractured middle finger and is out for the season.

Justin Steele and Nelson Velazquez each have strained obliques.

Very close to just writing him entirely off.

Already did this last year.

I think Brendon Little and Zack Short are near locks. Keegan Thompson or Bryan Hudson make sense if either is healthy by the fall. If not, I'd go with Erich Uelmen. I'm guessing Jhonny Pereda (Rule 5) over Amaya at catcher. I think the relievers are probably from a pool of guys who are Rule 5 eligible (Wyatt Short, Dakota Mekkes, Craig Brooks, Bailey Clark and Tom Hatch who you mentioned). Wouldn't mind Hoerner repeating if he's not in the bigs in September.

What even happened to Castro? He kinda just began to suck and it kind of seemed like it came out of nowhere.

Even at his peak, most of Starlin's value came from batting average and positional value. Moving to 2nd, the launch angle/juiced ball devaluing the hit tool more, and some decline as he maybe didn't have his 20 year old twitch reactions in his late 20s mostly did him in as a regular(or at least an above average one).

I don’t even mean in terms of value — he kind of fell off a cliff at age 25 coming off what had arguably been his best season. Halved his walk rate, no power, stopped making hard contact, etc.

I know he changed positions but was there a mechanical reason for this drop?

I would like to see Jake Reindl get sent to AFL and try to make up for lost time after making his Cubs debut the 13th after being in the 2018 draft.
