I guess we need to talk about this one. Bears are 8.5 point dogs after Vegas spent one week giving them favorite status. Short rest weeks suck. Holding half your roster back in advance of that game may or may not help. I'm looking forward to falling asleep long before this ends.

Alot will depend on Alshon's usual uncertainty. I hope they franchise tag him and prove he can stay healthy, I don't want on a long term deal for someone who might be musculary (sp?) wound too tightly.

GBP looked good again as Lacy was effective. I think it's a solid line and likely see a 27-17 type of game (depending on weather).

Every game that Jay has started and finished has been ended up either a Bears victory or within 1 score of winning, so I feel good that this will at least be a competitive game. Bears playoff odds are low after yesterday, but if they could somehow win this, they'd have a fairly favorable schedule the rest of the year, but no margin for error.

I really don't see a way the Bears let Alshon walk after the year. Kevin White is obviously a great talent but he hasn't played an NFL game yet. If the Bears are trying to rebuild quickly and potentially compete for the playoffs next year (and certainly based on what we've seen from the coaching this year and whats looking like a pretty good 2015 draft, this is the way to go) they can't afford to let him go with no proven WRs on the roster. I am horrible at NFL cap but I think the Bears should have the space to franchise him if necessary.

I agree they should franchise him however a long term contract would be foolish at this stage.

He can't be on the verge of getting one of those elite WR contracts, right? If not, his cap hit should be much lower if they sign him to a longterm deal instead of franchise tagging him.

I could see him getting one. He plays like a top 5 receiver when he's healthy. Obviously the amount of different injuries he's suffered and the slower than expected return times are a concern, but its free agency, it only takes one stupid team to throw a ridiculous contract at him.

He wouldn't get Bryant money but wouldn't be surprised if a team gave him a 5 yr 65 mil deal with 40 guaranteed if he tested the market.

Interesting....doesn't necessarily mean they are sold on him, just that they are more sold on him than Jimmy Clausen.

Why is Bennett not being involved more? I'd be shocked at this point if he's back next season. I think both sides will be more than happy parting ways, unfortunately. Zach Miller has been fun but injury history doesn't bode well there.

As far as the cap goes, moving on from Bennett and Forte and freeing their cap # off the books will provide plenty of flexibility. Jeffrey on the tag or locked into a long-term deal is fine with me. If the coaching regime stays in tact somehow there will be a lot of reason for optimism going into next season depending on what Pace does, but he's earning my trust. His 1st draft class is clearly a success, albeit still hinging highly on what White turns out to be.

This game will be another example of the Bears having a solid plan and executing just badly enough to lose. But I think they continue to stay competitive. Hopefully, not the utterly depressing end to turkey day most pictured earlier in the year at least.

How has he not been involved? Bennett has had some issues with drops this year, and Miller had some big plays. The Bears are extremely limited through the air with no receivers and Bennett has been the most targeted option this season. He's also had the fewest yards per reception.

Bennett leads the team in receptions and without looking, likely in targets as well. Don't let Miller's fluke game cloud your judgement.

Yeah hes #1 in targets by a wide margin, although Jeffery would be #1 if he played more than 50% of the teams games.

All that said I could easily see him being gone after the season.

Brent Favre

Is this like the "Cable" version of him? Does he have tiny hands or something?

In other OT Bears related news another baby Cutler with a stupid name was born.

Yeah, he's not getting Dez Bryant, Julio Jones or Demaryius Thomas money. But slightly below that 14M AAV is TY Hilton at 13M AAV.

Hilton got 5 years/65Mil. I think you may be able to get away with guaranteeing him about or around 20Mil. But basically guarantee his first year and part of his 2nd, and make it essentially a year to year deal after that.

Oh and the Bears will have the money to franchise half the roster, if they wanted. Probably going to have about 60Mil in cap room this offseason. I'd probably try to sign Jeffery and franchise Forte. There is a cap floor, and I don't think the Bears are going to go crazy signing a bunch of people. So, I'd overpay Forte for a year, cut his usage down to 50-60%, before letting him walk.
