Source: #Cubs and #Rangers have made a trade. Names involved unclear.

Aren't we like an hour away from the roster deadline?

It's today. For some reason, I thought it was late this evening, but I have no idea. But yeah, this is probably a small deal.

#Cubs and #Rangers have indeed made a deal. It is very minor. Players have not been informed and 99% of you have never heard of either guy.

I bet @thekapman never heard of them either.

The Cubs got a Spencer Patton, whatever that is.

Big strikeout guy (12.2 career K/9 in the minors). Not a very good walk rate though for a reliever (3.2 BB/9). 27 years old too so not that young.

I wonder if Vogelbach's involved in a "[expletive] it, may as well get something for the big lout" trade.

Ah so THAT'S who read the Julie DiCaro retweet and thought it made sense. How surprising.

The who to the what now?

Assumed you were referencing this, where she RT'd a now deleted tweet by Vogelbach saying he didn't know what the future held for him.

All 3 relievers added are hard throwers that strike out a ton of people. To go along with Rondon, Strop, and Grimm. I'd say Theo has a "type". Hopefully, one of these guys work out better than last year's hard-throwing relief lottery tickets, Gonzalez German and Yoervis Medina.

I was actually mildly intrigued with Frandy heading into next year at South Bend. I get the deal, trading away a far away piece, likely 2nd baseman if he panned out, in the hopes of finding a cheap bullpen addition that can help now. Frandy's at least a good 4 years away, if that, so there's every reason to take the gamble. They must have had pretty good reports/feel on Patton - this is pretty early to make a minor swap like this.

I mean, de la Rosa was a fringe top 30 guy on some lists but whatever, Kaplan.
