if you wanna pick at something, it's the decision to punt from like the 45 on 4th and short...but people won't because something else didn't happen right after it

That was just as idiotic and for the record I was against going for it as soon as they started lining up for the play

Congrats Fox, your dumb decision cost you the win against the team that dumped your ass last year

i wasn't going to bother the first time you said it, but since this makes twice...

who is to say any of that would've played out the same had he kicked, especially since not kicking resulted in them getting the ball where they did?

it probably wouldn't have.

going for the TD was fine.

No, it was a bad decision. They were still down eight and would have need another scoring drive. They had next to zero chance to actually convert the TD. It was a very bad decision.

if you think they had next to zero chance to gain 3-4 yards there, what the hell chance of winning the game did they have by kicking a FG anyway?

The bad decision to punt doesn't negate the bad decision to go for an unachievable td.

Did you see the game?

They had 1,000 plays inside the 10 and did nothing.

Update your processor.

They moved the ball until they got near the red zone. They have no skill players and can't convert. It was a stupid idea to basically say, "I don't know who you can throw to jay, but try it anyway."

yeah, it was obviously impossible for them to move the ball once inside the red zone, which was evident on the last TD drive.

you know you can argue that it's a bad decision without ridiculous hyperbole like saying they had almost no chance of scoring, which obviously makes the decision look a lot worse (and isn't true)

it was annoying me that he was getting charged with a pick for that

Falcons, Skins, Eagles, all lose. Rams in danger of losing. Would've been a big W.

Falcons yeah. Those other teams don't matter. The NFC East teams will beat up on each other. The Rams lost to the Bears. The biggest issues are the Packers, Vikings, and Seahawks. All teams the Bears have played and lost to. If GB holds on (they will), the Bears would still be 1 game out of the 2nd wildcard if they had won. And they'd be tied with the Seahawks who demolished them. It was a longshot either way.

So Cutler audibled into the run on the 2 point try and apparently some guys missed the call.

Probably because our dumbass fans were cheering their heads off and they couldn't hear Jay (I missed the game so didn't see/hear, just assuming).

If they score on 4th and 6 and don't convert they still need a field goal. Kicking the field goal gives them the chance to win the game with a touchdown. If they had any of their skill players available, maybe going for it on 4th down makes sense. They didn't and that made it a really bad idea.

I didn't like it. Not based on yardage but rather there was still 10 minutes left. If Denver could have secured the game with one last time consuming drive, then I would have been for it. As bad as Fox is as an in game manager, this team is playing so far over their heads.

They are. The coaching staff has done a good job preparing them and the team has seemingly played to the best of their abilities. But weird decisions have been very noticeable. It kind of feels exactly like the Lovie era, sans the dominant defensive talent seasons.

No problem at all going for it on 4th down. Mariani was wide the hell open and Cutler missed him.

It's easy to say "get the 3" in hindsight having scored that last touchdown, but you can't just say "don't go for the TD because you won't get it" and then just assume they'd be able to get the one at the end. I'd have to imagine the chances of scoring on a 4th and goal from the 4 are better than driving the field in the closing minutes and ending with a touchdown, even though that's what they did.

Was just about to say exactly that. Fox is terrible at those types of decisions but the overall impact of this staff is obviously very good.

I can't wait to see what it looks like once Fangio has some more toys (also the offense with Kevin White).

Im praying that Gase doesn't get a head coach position. They have a solid offseason and they could/should be in contention for a playoff spot.

They kinda sorta are (or at least should have been) this year. With their cap space (and if Pace can have another at least decent draft), I could see them being very good next year. Two ways of saying the same thing, I guess...just feel like I'm a little more bullish.

I'm working under the assumption he's gone.

Everybody assumed he would get one this year, and it didn't happen. Sometimes guys get a label that's hard to shake when they interview and don't get gigs. The Bears have stabilized the Cutler situation and made do with limited weapons. But it's not like they are some offensive juggernaut. It's not like Cutler is doing something he's never done before. They aren't lighting up the scoreboard, and of course they aren't winning games. He can't be the hottest coordinator right now. In fact, it looks like Josh McDaniels is considered a favorite for a couple jobs. There's a few college guys and a few retreads that are also going to get a shot.

I think Gase has as good a shot as most, but it is by no means a lock after one year in Chicago.

Sneak into the playoffs- block early round interview requests. That's the best route to keep hot assistant coaches.

Otherwise I'd say it's 65/35 he's gone. While our offense is obviously not a juggernaut I think he has successfully answered his biggest question which was if he just rode Manning's coattails.
