Im praying that Gase doesn't get a head coach position. They have a solid offseason and they could/should be in contention for a playoff spot.

I'm working under the assumption he's gone.

Everybody assumed he would get one this year, and it didn't happen. Sometimes guys get a label that's hard to shake when they interview and don't get gigs. The Bears have stabilized the Cutler situation and made do with limited weapons. But it's not like they are some offensive juggernaut. It's not like Cutler is doing something he's never done before. They aren't lighting up the scoreboard, and of course they aren't winning games. He can't be the hottest coordinator right now. In fact, it looks like Josh McDaniels is considered a favorite for a couple jobs. There's a few college guys and a few retreads that are also going to get a shot.

I think Gase has as good a shot as most, but it is by no means a lock after one year in Chicago.

Well, he actually was offered a head coaching job last offseason that he wisely turned down.

I'm just grasping at straws here.

And I'm trying to soften the blow because Cutler hasn't had a better OC and it's being wasted on this team.

The next best was Martz, of which Gase's is an offshoot of right? Martz was just stubborn about things like TE's and audibles, but we can look towards that general tree I guess. Or just probably promote from within.
