I'm confident and terrified at the same time if that makes sense.

Yeah, this season has been so fun that the thought of it potentially ending due to the outcome of one game make me antsy.

all of this - whenever the season ends, next thursday or whenever after that, it will be a bummer. this team has been so much fun to watch.

My guess on the line-up vs. Cole

CF - Fowler

LF - Schwarber

3B - Bryant

1B - Rizzo

C - Montero

2B - Castro

RF - Coghlan

P - Arrieta

SS - Russell

I just hope if we lose it's like 5-1 or something.

I don't want to take a two-run lead into the ninth and have a three-run implosion.

[expletive] that we haven't had optimism in a playoff game since DeRosa's HR in Game 1 in '08. Give me something to cheer about at some point in time.

Yes. This has been a fun season. When you go from dumpster fire (with said dumpster full of tires) to among the best in baseball in one year, you really should just enjoy the ride as long as it lasts.

We'll score first. There you go.

I think the Cubs will win 4-1 but in a doomsday scenario I see them lose 1-0 in the 12th inning after Jake goes 9 innings of 1 hit ball.

My Fall wedding was a lot of fun. We got lucky with the weather. It rained the day before and the day after. The giant oak tree we got married under came crashing to the ground the next spring.

I can't look at it that way. I genuinely believe we have the best team in the NL at this point and the second best in baseball and want to be rewarded at least somewhat accordingly.

Having no more baseball to watch in a week would SUCKKKK.

Denorfia is 3 for 6 against Cole with a walk, so I think you have to start him.

Not sure if serious, 3-6 isn't much of a sample size. On the other hand, that allows Maddon to have Schwarber hit in a key spot later in the game.

I also expect Arrieta to bat 9th since the expectation is that he'll go deep into the game and that's been Maddon's preference lately with Arrieta and Lester pitching.

The way Austin Jackson has been playing and the comments Maddon has made about defense lately suggests to me that Jackson would start over Schwarber. Righties hit Cole better than lefties. Now, that might be because managers load lefties and they aren't necessarily good ones while the better righties stay in the lineup.

However, I think that is basically the lineup with Jackson in and Castro above Montero one slot.

Fall weddings are awesome. Hot summer weddings are for idiots.

This.. Especially when it's outside and 95F and the bride insists on an hour ceremony

In a church without air conditioning

A wedding I went to in North Carolina this summer expressly said on the invitation that people could wear whatever they wanted (at a business/church casual-level) and still most of the suckers showed up completely dressed up to the nines and sweating their bits off in an un-air conditioned church. Madness.

What part of NC?

I was in an August wedding a few years back. In a wool tux. In August. Outside. I literally had to continuously wipe my face sweat throughout the entire wedding so it didn't drip off my face.

I was a groomsman in an August wedding. It was my cousin's wedding, and the groomsmen were myself, my other cousin, and a bunch of the groom's college buddies (most of whom were grade-A douchebags).

So it was hot as hell, but some of the family had set up some cold drinks for the bridal party so we wouldn't die. I went to grab one and came to find out that the d-bag college buddies had grabbed them all to give to their dates.

stop talking about weddings in the wild card thread

instead talk about the fact that oh [expletive] i have tickets for the game in pittsburgh.

I'm probably going to be nervous, but I haven't been this excited for a game in the last dozen years. That's freaking awesome.

During the wedding? While getting dressed? At the reception?

There's absolutely nothing douchebag about sharing the wealth. The douchebag thing is flaunting wedding party cold beverages that other guests do not have access to. Also, as a groomsmen pretty much your only duty is making sure there's booze and people are drinking.

This was meant for us during outdoor photos (while the rest of the guests drove ahead to the reception). The point is, some of the bridal party didn't get any cold drinks because the dates of the other groomsmen took them instead

I'd say whoever was in charge of that was a cheapskate and should have had more than enough for the dates and the party.

Outer Banks. It was sticky.
