The game isn't over yet, but it really makes me mad that Matheny got away with the colossally stupid idea to start Grichuk in the outfield against us when he couldn't throw a [expletive] ball, and now he might get away with the colossally stupid bullpen mismanagement he pulled this inning. The send was a bad idea at the time and in hindsight. Shallow flyball, Heyward throwing, and you still have a crappy pitcher on the mound with one out if you don't send. It wasn't a 'do or die' situation. We still had time. It was completely unjustifiable.

 

Also, Christ, Miggy, can you please hit a fastball?

Matheny brought in Maness because he induces a lot of gidps (but also sucks a good portion of the time). He probably wasn't bringing in Rosenthal until two were down regardless.
