That guy had to intellectually disabled. I loved when he was on with Bernstein last year and told them it was there job to support the state of Illinois by supporting his football program and not reporting negative stories.

Did Bernstein make fun of him for the rest of the show?

Yes, but as I recall, Dan actually really tried to help him understand, and he just wasn't having it.

yeah, Beckman fit in really well with the downstate crowd. i'm unsure as to why they hated him so much. i mean, it's not like the program ever had expectations besides hiring white head coaches, and that's they only thing those hillbillies wanted anyway.

Lol, they decided to fire him NOW? Never change, Illinois.

it literally changes nothing as to the outlook of the season. we were ahead of only Northwestern before and we're still ahead of them after.

Never change, Sully.

I said illinois is gonna suck but still not as bad as nw. Don't know how that's a unique take specific to me or anything.

Is SIU any good?

They were decent last year, but just lost the best player in the school's history and most productive TE in all of D1. They'll be terrible this year.

I wouldn't say they'll be terrible -- probably right around .500 again this year, as they always have been under Lennon. If they miss the playoffs this year, hopefully Lennon is finally canned.

We did get a transfer from NIU at QB, Matt McIntosh. So we'll see how that goes. But I don't think Indiana has much to worry about on Saturday.

Ok, which of our favorite teams has the worst OOC schedule?

Penn State:

@ Temple

vs. Buffalo

vs. San Diego St

vs. Army

And their first two B1G games are Rutgers and IU at home. They're going to be 6-0 without leaving the state or beating anybody worth a [expletive], which will make Ohio St look much more impressive than they should when they beat them by 3 TDs, since they're going to beat everybody besides MSU by 3 TDs.

They'll figure out how to [expletive] the bed against SDSU or Rutgers

My hunches for this weekend:

Gophers give TCU all they can handle.

Texas beats ND.

Wiscy beats Bama. Saban's not being coy; they have no QB.

aTm beats AZ State.

OOC what CFB team generally gets the forum's weight behind it? Or do most root for different teams?

College Football is a pretty diverse group, largely because Illinois football is terrible so most of that fanbase here is dormant. On this page alone you've got people who root for Illinois, Northwestern, Indiana, Notre Dame, Penn State, Nebraska, Mizzou, and probably some others. College Basketball is very heavily an Illinois/Big 10 crowd.

I refuse to admit we have a football program.

Everyone knows this is an SEC board.

So does the rest of the country.

I'm a college football nut. I love it, and have always just paid attention to as much as I could and hoped for great games. This year I'm becoming a fan of Nebraska since I'm a student here now. I'll be on the forum talking football for sure, so I was just trying to see who rooted for who.

Not counting the handful of Mizzou supporters, there is you, me, Fiver is an Auburn guy, Vance likes LSU, dew is for Tennessee, old style is A&M, UK is Kentucky obviously, there used to be a South Carolina fan but I haven't seen him in years, and I think there is another Ole Miss fan out there.

30 mins Til Harbaugh. Can't remember the last time I was this excited about a game. Either the Sugar Bowl a few years ago or the OSU game when the teams came in 1-2

NOLA is an Arkansas fan, we have multiple Texas fans, and there's any number of other team's fans that I'm sure no one has mentioned yet.
