This has to be the first Week 1 in forever where all of the AP top 5 play away from home (although Alabama will essentially be the home team against Wisconsin).

What the hell does Michigan State have to gain by playing @ Western Michigan?

You missed PSU @ Temple, 3:30ET on ESPN

Thanks, don't know how I missed that

MSU did a 'Celebrate the State' thing wherein they essentially signed 3-for-1s with all 3 MAC schools in the state. Naturally, Eastern Michigan has already canceled their home date for another payday game, probably because they know only 800 people would show up for that one anyway.

Noble on MSU's part, I guess, but 1 loss in any of those games and they'll end that quickly. Eastern probably took more money for a guarantee game because they know it's going to be 99% MSU fans anyway, might as well take a bit more money.

@BruceFeldmanCFB

Source tells @FoxSports #Illinois notified Tim Beckman within the hour that he had been fired. #Illini open the season in 8 days vs. Kent.

Reports are that they found some big-time player mistreatment issues from the allegations that came out this summer.

That guy had to be intellectually disabled. I loved when he was on with Bernstein last year and told them it was their job to support the state of Illinois by supporting his football program and not reporting negative stories. Edited by CubinNY

Did Bernstein make fun of him for the rest of the show?

Yes, but as I recall, Dan actually really tried to help him understand, and he just wasn't having it.

Illinois should give ol Bo a call after this year

He's on my short list. Really, the best Illinois can hope for is a high-level retread who's probably had his fill of the big time and is ready to stop at a place with low expectations. Everyone likes Fleck, but Western Michigan is pretty much a better job than Illinois right now, he'll wait until he gets a much better job.

Lol, they decided to fire him NOW? Never change, Illinois.

it literally changes nothing as to the outlook of the season. we were ahead of only Northwestern before and we're still ahead of them after.
