Maddon is in a tough spot with this incoming weather. I wouldn't want to waste a reliever and have this thing get rained out in the 4th inning. But that might be the only move we have to stay in the game in the small chance it goes long enough to be official.

He hasn't made it through the 6th inning in like a month, so it's not just one start. That, combined with his history of second half struggles makes the argument even more valid. I would have liked to see more as well, but not at the prohibitive price it sounds like was being asked.

David look at Hammel career record in the 2nd half. It has always been bad. This is not an anomalie.
