Should hopefully be in attendance at Myrtle Beach tonight. Will let you all know how glorious Zagunis looks in person.

16.5% BB rate, 13.3% K rate, .443 OBP. I'm not sure why Zagunis isn't in AA yet.

Probably mostly because Almora, Hanneman, and McKinney are already there. Although I guess they could rotate at DH.

Yeah I think they could. I thought they were going to bump Zagunis up after the Schwarber promotion, which opened up the DH spot that Contreras and Schwarber were sharing.

Almora should just go to AAA, he's really wasting his time down at AA. It's fairly clear he's never going to be a good hitter and he'll make the majors on his glove alone. Maybe putting him in the PCL will get him going.

Huh? No.

Also, if it's fairly clear he's never going to be a good hitter, why would the PCL, hitters environment or not, get him going?

The guy is 21 in AA with much-improved BB and K numbers. He's clearly going to take some time to develop, but I don't think we should start proclaiming that he's "never" going to be a good hitter.

I'm willing to leave open the possibility that he may one day become a not too bad hitter, but I'm pretty settled on him never being a good one.

18 year old Gleyber Torres with another 3 for 4 night with 2 runs scored for South Bend. He is absolutely raking in single A. When is it time for him to move east to Myrtle Beach?

And when does Chesny Young move up to Tennessee? Seems like A ball pitching is not really fooling him. And he's already 22, 23 in a couple of months.

Eloy HR

Top 5 prospect in the post-Bryant/Russell/Soler system? Probably - I have him behind Schwarber, Torres, and McKinney for sure among the bats.

Edit: Duh, the draft this year...Probably behind both Happ and Dewees.

Top 6-7 for sure, I don't think it's unreasonable to put him in front of Dewees. Zagunis probably is right in there too, for me.

Also, Torres has to be a consensus top 25 prospect going into next year doesn't he?

I feel comfortable with top 50, but he's more of a high floor guy than a guy with gigantic tools. I think it's possible he'd make a top 25 list or two, but I doubt it'd be close to consensus. Some will say he's super advanced for his age, but lacks the upside to warrant that high of a ranking.

Nice to see the Emeralds bat Eloy in the 2 hole. He's shown patience so far this year, but he's also 6'4" with huge power potential. A lot of organizations would lock him into the 3 or 4 spot and not consider him for the 2 spot.

So nice that they have some organizational philosophies and hire managers that will execute them. The great 2-hole hitter is also nice with the DH, so maybe that's got something to do with it. But I like Dewees, Jimenez, and happ hitting at the top of that lineup for as long as they're all there.

Also, yes on Steele. 3 out of 18 outs were in the air. 2 doubles, but other than that he's been great. Let's hope this 2014 HS class keeps it rolling.

Are we already at the point where it's basically useless for Schwarber to even be in the minors hitting-wise? He's already overall more advanced than Bryant was at this time last year, which is almost unfathomable.

[expletive] MLB and their dumb ass DH rules.
