I'd be more inclined to believe this guy (read: 1% likely) if he knew how to spell "waive".

just because he seems to be an idiot doesn't mean he hasn't heard something

mind you, i think there's like a 5% chance he's onto anything at all. 10 if you're generous.

So it's a non deadline deal and he had no idea when it will be done. If nothing else, he's set himself up to be right if we make a biggish trade in the next month.

pretty sure when the cubs make a trade he will be like "yeah see i told ya so!"

And if it happens within a day or two of the draft, I'd say it's justified.

Yea he's pretty much said he expects it to be announced when the draft is over. It's a fair enough stalling tactic as I can see the MLB having such a policy in place.

i doubt it has much of anything to do with policy

the most i'd give him is that it might be that the teams involved are too busy with the draft to workout the final details just yet, but as far as waiting on announcing something that's done? ehhhhh

He even said in one of his tweets that the draft was a factor due to front office resource allocation.

I guess I don't really care about how accurate the guy is. Even if a Papelbon trade is announced later today the next rumor the guy has will still rightly be met with scrutiny, so I just enjoy it as a thought exercise that maybe has some backing. The guy hasn't big-timed it with 'insidery' allusions or condescension and seems to be sincere, so if he's wrong, oh well.

Basically the reason I posted it.

Source seemed just legitimate enough that it was worth having fun with.

Going on Twitter and saying "You won't believe what I just heard, but I can't tell you what it is!" is the epitome of douchebaginess

These sorts of things are the most harmless things in the world and kind of fun, but there's this subsection of Cubs fans that seemingly hates them with a scorching hot(take) passion.

some people hate fun

also they think even rumors based in reality are false/lies if they don't come to fruition so these guys that report them are just scumbag liars worthy of all their vitriol

yeah, I've never understood it. It's entertainment at the very least. And who knows, he could be 100% right and the trade could fall apart last minute. It's just fun to speculate and see if anything materializes.
