Despite the annoying 9th, it's great having a team that's just fun to watch again. There's offensive approach is great, and Bryant looked fantastic. Can't wait until Russell's up to join in.

Unless Lester is going to be able to pull off a long outing tomorrow, now I kinda want Rondon Fan's (seriously, change your name; I thought you were doing that for guys we want them to get rid of) rainout prediction to come true.

When you actually overcome and succeed, adversity becomes a side note instead of an excuse. It is really annoying to have five pitchers on the DL right now, two or three of whom are pretty important to the pen. But we built in enough redundancy and have put up enough offense to overcome it, rather than just sitting there at 4-6 saying "Well, it's not their fault four relievers are hurt, so really it's understandable."

Bryant was [expletive] money today. 2 hits, RBI, 3 walks

If he exhibits the kind of patience he showed today (and has shown in the minors) he's going to be an absolute monster

It's all come together so fast. But with Soler, Bryant, Montero, Fowler, you've swapped in half an offense worth of guys with good batting eyes since midseason last year.

We need a healthy Grimm and Ramirez in the pen. That along with Russell in this lineup, this team will be freakin beastly. Godamn exciting.

If Soler starts drawing some walks, too, then that'd be excellent. Soler should be drawing way more walks. Kris Bryant drew the same amount of walks in this game as Soler has drawn all season. Soler has a too good of an approach to hitting to be striking out this much and walking this less. I think that will normalize over time, but right now it's frustrating to see a guy with that kind of strike zone discipline swinging at junk balls like Javy usually does.

The youth makes everything so fun! Did you guys see Castro running around in circles after the game looking for ANYONE to hug? Awesome.

I have a question that will make me look stupid but I have to ask.

Does it seem like in the first two games that Bryant is either swinging too early or too late and that's why everything he hits seems to go foul? The two hits he got obviously weren't hit hard.

Just wondering. I'm an idiot when it comes to breaking down swings, etc.

Swinging too early or too late generally tends to be the reason foul balls exist, yes.

I think Soler just hates the cold.

I hope so. That said, he shouldn't wear that stupid face mask. There's no way it doesn't cause at least a minor distraction.

I always thought the same thing with Aramis; I don't know how that thing doesn't throw their hitting off.

Haha. OK. Good point.

I should ask this way, which might be equally stupid: Does anybody else think Bryant has been swinging too early or too late in almost every at-bat his first two games?

That was some kind of terrible decision by Black

Yep. We've sure benefited from some questionable managing by him and Price. I don't like Ross' odds to make contact against Kimbrel, let alone get a hit.

Rizzo & Bryant saw something like a combined 70 pitches between them today.

I thought this was a joke. I just tallied it up, I think it was 71 total pitches between the two.

Hard to blame someone for off-timing when three of the first pitchers he's seen are Kimbrel, Shields, and Ross. He'll be fine.
