It just should have been Arians instead of Trestman, that's all. A blown hire, not much else. Emery got too cute again. And it cost him.

I'm not sure Emery really has a history of getting "cute". He went way outside the box on Trestman, but I'm not sure of where else you can say that. Shea was just buying into a rising stock too much.

On Lovie, he is clearly a good NFL head coach. I think he is a coach that is perfectly capable of winning a super bowl with the right team. What ultimately undid him was Angelo's inability to feed young talent through the draft.

I haven't listened to B&B in awhile. Two questions. First, are the callers always this stupid? And second, are B&B always so out and out hostile to them?

1) Yes. I'm pretty sure the producers actively seek dumb people, but they don't have to look hard. Sports talk radio callers are the worst.

2) Absolutely yes. It's their thing. Most deserve it, but it gets them ratings, so yes.

To #1, maybe they occasionally try to get the fun-bad callers on the air, but I'm pretty sure it's just the fact that the majority of people who would call into any radio show are criminally dumb, which you alluded to.

Other shows don't get the same level of stupidity. I mean, there's dumb callers on all shows, but B&B get the really special ones.

Or at least offensive talent. 2011 after beating the Chargers was the time when I really thought the offense was coming together. But Lovie just couldn't find the right coordinator to get the offense moving, but the talent around Jay had also been substandard for years.

"Jay is going to retire." Yep, that was an all-timer.

Last year was the first year that both the talent and coaching came together. But we were stuck with a shitty D and still missed the playoffs.

Then this year Trestman got figured out and/or let the locker room fall apart at the seems and couldn't get it back together and we're here.

Grobstein gets the really special ones.

I don't really notice a difference between the ones B&B get compared to the other daytime shows. Bernstein is just way more willing to make fun of them and call them idiots and bait them into arguments.

I love grobstein he's just a nice guy. Whenever he comes up you pretty much can tell he's th one guy that all people who work for the score like and respect. I think all of them start as his producer as an entry level radio job.

Spiegel and manelly have become the bet show on the station. They are both really good.

They all hate the Grobber. Didn't he take a crap in the studio or something?

This is...

Grobstein's proudest moment is when everyone else on the station made fun of him for [expletive] his pants in the studio. Nobody likes or respects the overnight weirdo.

The guy [expletive] himself in their studio. Of course they made fun of him. They all like him because he's a decent person and he let's his producer open the mic. Holmes hood etc all started as Grobbers producer.

People make fun of him even beyond him [expletive] his pants, and it pretty obviously doesn't come from any kind of respect. He's a joke.

Bernstein was out for caller blood even more than usual today. It is usually annoying but when things are a total crapfest in sports it is cathartic to listen to them. He was just daring any caller to bring up McCown.

Agreed. Angelo and Hatley did more of that sort thing than has Emery.

Even Trestman wasn't the complete curveball that many like to portray it as.

We'll see how good Mannelly is when he's not talking football

He's talked plenty of non-football already. He's not an expert in other sports, of course, but he's perfectly capable of watching them, talking about them, and asking the right questions.

Uh, yeah he was. The only non-curvebally thing about him was his name was mentioned as a candidate and Jimmy Johnson said he was hired before he was.

Was anyone else even thinking about hiring the dude? How was he not a complete, bounced ten feet in front of the plate curveball?

It was outside the box (and ultimately a huge failure) but some still believe the Bears were the only one down that path and they weren't.
