I don't think it will be as bad as people think.

How bad do you think people are thinking? I get the feeling people see 7-9 or 8-8. Do you think better than that? I think they will be a little better, mostly on defense, but too many hurdles to be in the real hunt of the 9/10 win playoff teams.

well, usually reserved and rational walterfootball had them at 4-12, and the preview piece reads like smear piece on cutler. i cannot believe so many people continue to lose their minds on him. "they can't win with him." oh yeah? so who are they going to win with, that Claussen guy?

basically every publication has them last in the north.

i think with Long moving to RT, they have a chance to have an above average line. that could push the offense to top 10.

Walter Football just HATES Cutler. During mock draft season they'd put Cutler jabs in half of the Bears picks commentary- regardless of the position.

lol, I know you're joking, but man is that site awful. They have absolutely hated Cutler for years, and seems like they always are looking for some way for the Bears to replace him.

Yep. I believe they had QB as the #1 offseason needs for the Bears for like 3 years straight now.

Lance Briggs is tweeting/retweeting some vague Bears things, like a Bears countdown and replying to someone's question about if he'd re-signed with Chicago by saying he's heading there to train.

Probably him just trying to keep all doors open, but weird.

Looks to be nothing but a couple retweets

"that way" could easily mean Lexington, KY here:

While here is only acknowledges somebody who says it is 55 days to kickoff.

Briggs' ego keeps getting in the way. He's done with the Bears. What kind of fool leaves their $100K sports car along the Edens @ 2AM?

What the hell does something that happened 8 years ago have to do with anything currently happening (or more likely, not happening)?

A smart enough fool that doesn't want to deal with a DUI.

Stop being an enabler. Briggs was never a leader.

A fool who listens to his agent when he calls him for help in the middle of the night.

hmmm......interesting. can you share your thoughts on the confederate flag issue?

I think its funny that there are 4 players that started significant time with the Bears last year that are still unsigned heading into training camp. Those guys are Briggs, DJ Williams, Brian de la Puente and Eben Britton

This guy didn't get the Cutler-hate memo....

One anonymous evaluator who ranked Cutler in the third tier had this to say about the nine-year veteran:

"I do not think he is the monster everyone has made him out to be," the evaluator said. "He does have issues, but can you win with him? Yes. That is why he is a 3, not a 4. If you protect him and get him to get the ball out and have a really good run game, he can be [good enough]. But he will turn it over, and you have to overcome that."

Was looking over this list of top 100 NFL players...too lazy to read if its trade value or just overall whatever but every team has a player on this list except the Bears.

http://grantland.com/the-triangle/the-nfl-100-rankings-2015-part-2/

It's somehow based on fantasy rankings/drafts position for veteran players only, and projects future performance. How offensive linemen play into that, I'm not sure. But, honestly, the only problem I have with it, is the exclusion of Matt Forte. I can see arguments for leaving Bennett and Jeffery off. And lack of OG (aside from Yonda) on the list, can explain Long's absence. And aside from that, we do have a lot of question marks.

With one open roster spot remaining as the Chicago Bears prepare to head to training camp next week, the team has explored the possibility of adding a veteran tight end.

An NFL source said the team has discussed the possibility of pursuing Jermaine Gresham, who NFL Media reported is visiting the NFC North rival Green Bay Packers.

Are the Bears the worst team in the NFL?

The notion that the Bears may just be the worst team in football does not defy reason, nor is it likely to start arguments even among the faithful. Who is worse? The Buccaneers? Redskins?

Each one is on a relatively benign Bears' schedule, so it is unlikely the Bears will go completely winless. Still it may not be too soon to start considering who might be the No. 1 draft choice (assuming he is a quarterback to erase the annual regret that has been Jay Cutler).

The best Bears quarterback always has been one who is not playing for the Bears. Cutler has managed the remarkable achievement of being tomorrow's quarterback on his way to becoming yesterday's quarterback without ever being today's quarterback.

No offseason acquisitions improved the Bears and one — temporary defensive tackle Ray McDonald, awash in domestic abuse charges — embarrassed the Bears and exposed their desperation.

This Bears team is no better than the one that lost its last five games, and probably a worse one, a team that has permission to be as awful as it should be, a team marking time until it can rid itself of Cutler, lose the well worn Matt Forte as well, and become relevant again.

yeah Jersey, Lincicome flirts with the notion that the bears will go winless, this is pretty much what i'm talking about when i say i think the bears are better than what they're being made out to be.

the fact that they have an actual defensive coordinator is proof to me that they'll be better than last year. if they don't just absolutely quit on their coaching staff it will assuredly make them worth 2-3 more wins as well.

Cutler is an average to slightly above average starting quarterback, the line is improved with Long potentially moving outside. White stretches the field, Royal provides a much improved slot receiver, and Jeffery is a real #1 wide receiver.

they will be improved. realistically, with maybe a little benefit of the doubt i see 7-9 or 8-8 judging on their schedule.

i see:

Packers - L

Cards - L

@Seahawks - L

Raiders - W

@Chiefs - W

@Lions - W

Vikings - W

@Chargers - L

@Rams - L

Broncos - L

@Packers - L

Niners - W

Redskins W

@Vikings - L

@Bucs - W

Lions - L

Going truly optimistic, I could see....10-6.
