I'm sick of Bernstein's insistence on "forgetting about next year". He's stuck in some mind numbingly dumb "do it the way the Cubs did it" mindset.

Yeah, I get his line of thought, but he's going too far with it.

I don't know if it's so much "do it the way the Cubs did it" as much as it is "do it without Cutler and Marshall because I don't like them". It's kind of hilarious that he wants to do away with two positions that the Bears actually have talent at.

He kind of looks like a young Sean Bean. At worst, we'll have an awesome collection of GIFs with his face subbed into various Sean Bean death scenes when he gets fired.

No, it's definitely the Cubs thing.

Handsome GMs are the new market inefficiency

Have some goddam taste; this oaf looks like he's constantly pumped about the [expletive] Catalina Wine Mixer.

Hoyer, meanwhile, hosts yet another press conference about living with extreme handsomeness:

Bernstein is a walking doom boner; he should not be listened to.

I don't know about that. He's been a huge, huge supporter of the Cubs rebuild process. But when he turns on something, there's no swaying him back.

Zaidman is suggesting that they may have passed on Ballard to go in an "whole new direction".

I hope this wasn't a different for different's sake situation. But I do like that he is very different from Emery. He's young, not a "lifer" who paid his dues. He didn't spend 20 years teach S&C in college. He's a handsome man in the mold of Theo Epstein..., ok I'm done.

My understanding of the Saints is they are not a feature back team, they rotate multiple guys with varying skillsets. I like that type of approach to the roster.

This is what I wanted. I didn't know much about Pace, but I knew the Saints wanted to keep him. That was good enough for me. I was OK with Ballard, but this seems better.

I'm pleasantly surprised. I was resigned to Ballard being GM, which was not necessarily a bad thing, of course. I'm curious to see if there are new candidates for HC brought in soon, might be a sign that Pace wants to go his own direction.

He loves it because he's a miserable sad sack and is convinced that the way they've gone has been the "right/only" way. He dresses it up with some mildly advanced stat and prospect talk, but it's still the typical "we must suffer to be truly good" garbage too many Chicago fans lap up.

Somebody tweeted earlier than he and Marrone were on the Chiefs together.

Bernstein's source just said that his source said that all things being equal, they wanted a break from the past. Also that Pace had a much better feel for the bigger picture, and the need to build over multiple years.

I never looked into Pace that much but my cursory glanced at Pace left me nothing to be excited for.

Someone convince me this is good.
