but the Hawks are very lucky this series is 2-2.

no, they are not very lucky.

Yeah I have to disagree. The first 3 games were even. This one was more towards TB. The Hawks could have been swept or have swept or anything in between. Being 2-2 is the most probable outcome if anything

So the narrative in the Lightning locker room seems to be "we should have won that one" which I think is fair. I actually think it was their best played game of the series and the first game I felt there was a clear better team. That's how it breaks though. The Lightning won't be scared of us in any environment and any situation so we need to step up and play 2 great games to hoist the cup.

Yeah I disagree. The Hawks had several hit the post that "should have gone in".

ifs and buts....

Tampa executed their game plan about as well as they could expect and they still lost. The Hawks could have easily put 5 on them last night. I really wanted Timmonen's shot to go in. Duncan Keith said the Hawks had another level to reach. Have we already seen the best that Tampa has?

Corey Crawford is doomed to be the Rodney Dangerfield of goalies: No respect. Crawford is going to give up one goal at least per game. Once you accept that as a fan it makes it easier to appreciate what he does the rest of the time. He's like Boromir defending that bridge except the part where he dies.

What are you talking about? If the Hawks could have put 5 on them, then Tampa could have put 10 on us. The Hawks have played better for like 3 or 4 of the 12 periods. They're fortunate to be tied. Now, has Tampa played as well as possible? Probably. Do the Hawks have another gear? Possibly. I like our chances, but the Hawks are very lucky this series is 2-2.

I was talking more about the first 58 minutes of the game, not the flurry at the end with the extra attacker.

Son of bitch. Invited friends (non-hockey fans) over for dinner Saturday night and have concert tickets on Monday. Marital harmony is at risk here.

I have tickets to game 6. If the Hawks are up 3-2 I could see the Cup raised at the UC in person. On the other hand, I am getting married later this year and if I sell the tickets it would pay for a very nice honeymoon. I don't know what to do....

During the regular season, a .920 save % is about average. Playoffs are all about small sample sizes but historically, to beat the Hawks the opposing team has to have their goalie turn in a .940 save % and their team has to have a corsi of 55+. Hockey stats are a lot like defensive metrics in baseball though.

This... And Tampa isn't near either the .950(I think its actually .950) or 55+ corsi.

The only teams to beat the Hawks since 2009

Detroit 55+ corsi

Vancouver 55+ corsi

Coyotes (Mike Smith .960)

Kings 55+ corsi

You can get married any old day. Seeing the Hawks lift the cup in person at the UC is a once in a lifetime event :)

Exactly. To me the Hawks played better in games 2 and 3 but lost, while winning the games Tampa looked like the better team.

I agree! Other than seeing the Cubs win the WS in person, the Hawks winning it in person is something that would be beyond awesome.

How much are your tickets going for? If they're good ones you can always sell them and then use a portion of the profit to buy SRO.

Well that is true. They are row 6 of the 300 level behind the goal the Hawks shoot at twice. For game 4 similar seats were going for $800 on stubhub. I did pay $345 a piece(face value) on ticketmaster during the Hull presale so the profit margin at least for game 4 was double.

I like how instead of taking five seconds to actually look up the average save percentage, you just made up a number that was horribly wrong.

NHL League average was .915 this season. I don't think David is going to be all misled by that .005 over-estimation.

I'm sure game 6 will be much more than that. Looks like the cheapest actual seat is about $900, and that's row 17. I'm guessing you can get at least $1200 or so.

How do the Hull and Mikita packages work? Is it just like regular season tickets (ie you can renew your seats every year, there's a wait list for them, etc)?

That's a [expletive] huge gap. There's a smaller difference between Corey Crawford (.917 career) and Henrik Lundqvist (.921 career).

Your link lists team average save %. During the playoffs, teams aren't really playing their back up very much so I thought individual average was a more accurate response to what David was asking.

I got on the waitlist in early 2009 for season tickets so I bought a Hull package back then(9 games) and renew it every year. There is a huge waitlist now too for the Hull package. I am allowed to buy 1 playoff game(2tix) per round on the presale but have to pay regular tickemaster prices.

Yeah I figured. A couple of my friends went in on season tickets around 06 or 07 and I didn't have the money then, being in undergrad. Probably for the best. The wife already likes to conveniently bring up my Bulls and Cubs season tickets when it suits her argument.
