Hossa had 2 assists last night. Tampa fans are probably asking the same thing about Stamkos.

I expect either Kane or Toews to toss up a 2 goal/1 assist game here soon

Just waiting for the big ticket guys to step up for Chicago. Kane/Toews/Hossa have, what, zero goals and one assist in the finals?

Hossa should've had that empty net goal last night. Easy for me to say, of course.

So the Hawks have won the Corsi battle in all 3 games so far, suggesting that they have actually been the better team this series. Now's the time for that to work in our favor...

Game 1: Corsi For (CF): 53.6% Corsi Against (CA): 46.4%

Game 2: CF: 50.5% CA: 49.5%

Game 3: CF: 56.8% CA: 43.2%

This is misleading. When judging possession stats, most people use a "close" score situation. That's when the game is within a goal through the first two periods or tied in the third. Adjusting for that criteria has Tampa with more Corsi events in two of the three games.

It's not a surprise Chicago has more total shot attempts, they've been trailing for the majority of the series. Score effects are very real and pronounced.

There hasn't been a 2 goal lead the entire series, so the entire first 2 periods of each game count. In the third periods, the Hawks have been tied for around 24 minutes (just going from my head...about 2 minutes in game 1, 5 minutes in game 2 and 17 minutes in gmae 3) so we're looking at just over 7/9 periods within the close score situation, or just about exactly 80% of the series. But I haven't found situational Corsi stats so if you are saying that's correct then it is. That said, I would be willing to bet that its close to 50-50 in the 2 games Tampa had the advantage.

My favourite site for that sort of stuff is War on Ice. You can go to their Game Report like this one from Game 1 and adjust the score situation.

That game was almost even, Tampa only had one more shot attempt in the close situation. But in Game 2 they had 9 more than Chicago. Game 3 the Hawks had 5 more shot attempts while the game was close.

Hearing rumors about Columbus wanting to trade for Seabrook

if it's not an overpay, they can piss off

Pens fans are saying that they're going to pursue Brandon Saad. In other news that won't happen, we colonize Pluto tomorrow and our death star is ready in case we need to make an example of Uranus.

He's an RFA right, so I guess they could "pursue" him. But those big offer sheets happen so rarely for a reason.

And I still think the Hawks would make whatever cost cutting moves they needed to in order to keep him.

Pittsburgh can't even extend an offer sheet to him because they lost their 1st round pick when they traded for David Perron. The only way they could get him is if the Blackhawks will willing to trade him.

Edit: NVM I trusted LeBrun....draft pick compensation for RFAs apparently is the next years 1st

Actually, I'm pretty sure that's not true. I believe the it's the 2016 first rounder that would be at risk.

Second City Hockey did the same thing, and someone corrected him on twitter. Only reason I knew.

Also, LOL at Pitt for trading a first round pick for David Perron.

I hope the Hawks come out tonight like they did in Game 5 of the 2010 Final against Philly. I remember it being pretty much the most dominant period of hockey I've seen from this team in an important game. This is all on memory, but I feel like the entire period was spent in the Flyers zone, peppering shots at Leighton (or whoever was in goal at that point in the series). At first it was frustrating because I think we went 12 minutes without a goal before finally scoring 3 the rest of the period.

I hope my memory is right, think it was that game, that Versteeg goal where he drifted into the slot and nailed a wrist shot was a thing of beauty.

Bickell out, Versteeg in.

No problem with this whatsoever. Bickell was the worst player on the ice on Monday and it wasn't close.

Space on the cup is filling up, Timonen is in as well. Not sure for who, but I'm assuming Cumiskey unless Oduya is too injured to play, which I desperately hope not.

Edit: if i just kept reading....looks like its Cumiskey and Runblad sitting, Oduya appears to be in

This is very similar to the Anaheim series up to this point and we all know how that series ended. I won't get worried until the Hawks lose a 3rd game, only because a lucky bounce, hot goalie can kill you in one game. Toews was very quiet vs Boston during the first three games, very quiet against the Ducks too at the start of that series.

For all the ledge jumpers please read this article, I read a similar article from the same blog when the Hawks were down 3-2 last series.
