Yea, I'm just not seeing Shields ending up with the Cubbies. San Diego makes way too much sense here.

There is a growing sense among some of the folks involved in James Shields conversations that he will probably land with the Padres.

Die!

¯\_(ツ)_/¯

Shields needs to decide whether he wants a ring or not. I don't see it with San Diego. They're further away from the WS than the Cubs. A lot of their starting 8 are 30+ and have serious holes at C and on the left side of the infield. Living back in your hometown is great, if you win. If you know you won't win, how happy will you be?

Norris is in no way "a serious hole at C." Also exactly ONE player in their starting 8 is 30+ (he is exactly 30) and that is Matt Kemp.

Please stop.

Their outfield defense is going to be hilarious.

Sure would be a cool thing for Cubs Nation if they landed shields

To each their own, but I HATE this. Why does everything have to be a nation now?

You need to do your research. Quentin and Venable are 30+. Norris had 2 HRS in the 2nd half of 2014 and now you put him San Diego's huge park. His defense was so bad, GSoto started for him the playoffs against KC.

I chastised myself internally after I posted it. It's been a long week.

EDIT: Wow I went back to see where you did that and I totally missed the bold. I thought you were yelling die because I was being negative about Shields, haha.

ALSO, if Norris is a "serious hole at C", we are screwed. Going by BR, Norris had a better oWAR year than Welly, David Ross and Montero did last year combined (3.1 to 3.2) and did it playing half his games in Oakland.

the bolded is redundant; park adjustment is factored into oWAR
