Nate Turner is 11 days younger than Pierce Johnson

So is Jacob Turner.

For someone who spends as much time talking (er, writing?) about baseball as he does, Kyle does [expletive] like that a lot.

It's part of my charm.

Also, his friends call him Nate.

Am I missing something here, they aren't trying to slide him through waivers to trade him. He was DFA'ed. They have 10 days to trade him or else he can choose free agency or accept going down to their minor leagues.

He would have to clear waivers to be outrighted to the minors.

Not exactly.

When you DFA a player, there are 3 (or 4?) options that you must do within 10 days

Trade him (at this time of year, requires putting him on revocable MLB waivers)

Outright him to the minors (requires putting him on irrevocable outright assignment waivers). If he clears those waivers (which he won't), he'd have to accept the assignment. You have to have super-two arbitration status, three years of service time, or a previous outright in order to refuse and become a free agent.

Release him, which would require putting him on release waivers, and he *would* have the option of refusing a claim and becoming an FA.

I've seen some people say that if his roster spot is still open at the end of the 10 days, they can reinstate him, but I'm not sure if that's true or not.

For practical purposes, that probably means he's being traded via MLB waivers. Or maybe there's something super wrong with him or maybe there's some kind of gentleman's agreement going on that will him clear to be outrighted. But he won't be a free agent unless they straight-up release him.

Awhile back, I think Kyle went about two straight days arguing on Twitter that Javier Baez should be ranked higher than Miguel "Cano."

There was the one when I got Fujikawa and Takahashi mixed up.

But the greatest of all time was a long post about how MacPhail would never let Hendry get fired, more than a year after MacPhail had left the organization.

Also (not nearly as egregious) not knowing the difference between Blackburn and Underwood, who really weren't similar at all other than being HS pitchers drafted in 2012 by the Cubs.

I still don't think that one belongs in this category. I didn't mistake one for the other. I knew the Cubs had two first-round supplemental pitchers and their profiles, but I said I couldn't remember which name was which type of guy.

As far as nerdy baseball conversations on this board goes, this is pretty tame.

Let's keep this going a few more pages so people get off work this afternoon and think we made some movement on Turner.

2 pages of cat pictures.

Does this cancel out the previous instance of racism?

At my dad's funeral a few months ago, I had to greet sooooo many people that I knew I was somehow related to but couldn't remember which name went with which cousin/aunt/etc. This will surprise no one, but I'm not good at people.
