welcome to gam thread i am treymon

cubs won again who can believe it

tonight is hollywood nights again hope cubs stay away from the viper room

in conclusion here is promised recipe for empanadas

3 cups flour (mix in a little corn flour if you want!)

1 tsp salt

1/2 cup cold water

1 egg

1 egg white

1 tsp vinegar

3 tbsp shortening

fillings of your choice

beat the water, egg, egg white and vinegar together

mix together the 3 cups of flour and salt

cut the shortening into the flour mix (with a pastry blender or some kinves or whatever)

make a well in the center of the flour mix and pour the liquid ingredients from the first bowl into the center

mix the wet and dry ingredients with a fork until it becomes stiff

put dough on lightly floured surface. knead until all flour is incorporated and the dough is smooth

wrap dough in plastic and refrigerate for at least 1 hour, but never more than 24 hours (one time i like refrigerated 30 hours and it suuuuuuuuucked)

okay now you have dough. roll out the dough (REALLY THIN or you will be sad) and make a bunch of dough circles and put your filling on. the easiest and possibly best filling is just a bunch of refried beans with cheese and hot sauce mixed in. don't overfill or your emps will splode. fold emp over and crimp with a fork. do an egg wash thing here if you want your emps to be nice and golden brown. then bake at 375 for 15-20.

C'mon put Mendy in CF and Valbuena at 2B so we aren't subjected to another game of Lake flailing hopelessly at off speed pitches.

Alcantara is going to be really good, isn't he? I'm drooling over the possible value from plus defense at a premium position, with great base running, and a solid bat. He's been way more patient and made way more contact than I assumed he would. He also isn't chasing balls out of the zone, at this point. He could easily walk at a league-average rate, and make contact at a near league-average rate, with slightly above league-average power. Am I crazy to think he could be, like, a 4-win player next year?

Could he be? sure.

Yeah, I mean, it's again like "any player's ceiling is an All-Star." But, with his base running and at least decent defense at a premium position, his floor looks really high to me. It's just nice to have a non-"Core Four" member, that I can reasonably assume to at least be a 2-win player -- especially with the contact problems of some of the other prospects, and the fact that I was extremely worried about his contact and patience, as well.
