With the caveat that I'm not much of a prospect hound, I feel safer with Soler making it as at least a productive player than probably anyone else in the minors right now. Health seems like the only thing that would make him a bust to me. I wouldn't want to put him in a Stanton deal unless it was a deal-breaker for Miami.

Baez and Castro for Stanton would be just fine with me.

Baez < Castro < Soler < Russell

Wow, Russell above all those guys? Where would you go if you include Rizzo and Bryant?

i don't think i'd put Castro over Baez at this point, but if Castro and Baez get Stanton done, then i am playing with myself all the way home

see edit...tempted to put Soler above KB, but injury worries scared me off

also, Contra a hair ahead of Baez

I agree with Bruce Levine on this one. When the time is right(when Addison Russell has proven himself), the Cubs will trade Castro. The Marlins and Mets would trade some of their young pitching for him and I'd do it. Remember, we need pitching inventory.

Bruce mentioned this morning that Castro might feel slighted even being asked to move from ss to another position. Hadn't heard that before and not sure if I agree with it. Either way, I don't think he's here in 2016.

There are quotes from Starlin after Russell has been dealt for, where he's excited and just wants to be on the field. The position thing will work itself out.

Yeah, the idea here is to acquire as many high-value / likelihood of success position players as possible, regardless of where on the field they play. You don't have to start clearing space for all of them immediately or even soon.

Castro has also said in the past that he'd have no problems at all with changing positions for the good of the team.

There isn't any young pitching the Marlins have that I'd trade Castro for. Fernandez doesn't count b/c they wouldn't even consider moving him. Heaney's stuff is pretty average.

Also, I have a feeling a lot of people are going to try to make "Castro will be unhappy switching positions" a thing, but let's not. He said he'd move for Baez, so we can assume he'd be fine moving for Russell as well.
