Not a man like Addison Russell, not royal. We should be able to get some mid-market team to send us some pitching because now i want .800 OPS at every position and Castro isn't it. Good player, but it's increasingly apparent he is what he is, a good player, and we only have room for greatness.

what pitching can we get for him? Bundy? Bradley? Someone who i haven't heard of which is a lot of guys?

No.

And .800 OPS everywhere isn't a thing anymore.

Love Russell.

C - Schwarber (yeah, right)

1B - Rizzo

2B - Castro

SS - Russell

3B - Baez

LF - Bryant

CF - Almora

RF - Soler

Alcantara as super sub extraordinaire.

Plenty of room for everybody.

Since the scoring environment took a plunge.

It was .900 before. Now it's .800

Swap Alcantara for Almora (I think Arismendy may end up being more productive, and Almora may end up being traded), and that's about what I see happening.

But I like Stanton more than Russell. Trade him.

If you can get Stanton for Russell, you make that deal.

This, however, is rooted in the idea that whatever you get for Castro makes up for any decrease in production you get from Castro to Mr. Contra, which I think will actually be the opposite of a decrease. Castro's good but we have an embarrassment of riches.

Qualified players with > .800 OPS last year:

C - 4

1B - 13

2B - 4

SS - 1

3B - 6

OF - 20

There may be some overlap with multi-position guys, but it makes the point. 15 guys meet that threshold on the top half of the defensive spectrum.

I would be concerned about the message we might be sending. A guy signs a relatively team-friendly deal to be part of the foundation, bounces back to what he was, and probably is, and you trade him because you have a shiny new toy? I love Russell, but wouldn't swear that he'll outproduce Castro. A good problem to have that does not have to be addressed now (unless Castro brings us Stanton).

How does this keep coming up? Even if Castro never gets better offensively than he is now, he's a bargain at either middle infield spot. I seriously doubt we'd get offered something that would make trading him worthwhile.

I keep seeing FO quotes that the likely spot for Baez is 2B is he is moved off of SS. Not agreeing or disagreeing, but it's not out of the question Castro gets moved.

Castro goes to third and continues to bulk up.

Theo made this clear recently.
