Apparently his HR tonight was a monster shot.

Also, what's the deal with this?

9 games at C, 9 in LF, the algorithm has to pick one I guess

I didn't even realize he was thought of as a guy that would play LF. You'd think they'd promote Marra or Zagunis to KC at this point.

Yeah, there were a few quotes from Hoyer when Zagunis was drafted about how he too could play the OF (even CF), though that was when it was thought he and Schwarber would be at the same level.

Remillard and Brockmeyer are at KC so there's no need to push Marra or Zagunis. And given how tough catcher is to learn defensively, I have no problem moving these guys slowly.

Yeah, I never took the LF distinction to mean anything other than he sometimes plays there, and I take that as a good sign for a minor league catcher who has the tools to stay there. There are so many catchers at every minor league level that if the guy wasn't playing some other position, it would tell me he lacks athleticism and/or his bat isn't good enough to justify keeping him in the line-up on days when one of the other catching prospects is behind the plate.

ahahahhaha the pitcher laughs as javy rounds the bases

"Haha I just gave up a home run to an all time great. I can't wait to tell my grandkids someday"

I was thinking more like, "Haha. I just tired out that lazy bastard who may never get to his defensive position next inning because he'll be too busy bragging about his HR to a bunch of guys whose names he doesn't even know."

VItters HR

11-2 Iowa

Has there been any player anyone can think of that had good pedigree, put up minor league and major league struggling stats like Vitters and the light just clicked turning him into a starter or even good player? I know he is what he probably is and hes not necessarily young but he's also not necessarily for sure too old to improve.

Is there anybody we can compare Vitters too that can give us any sort of hope.

I know if possible its a 1 in 1000 chance of probably happening but still.

I dont know why I even care but I guess I used to like Vitters a lot as a prospect around 08 or 09 ?

Ryan Ludwick? Dont believe he made his ML debut until he was 29.

That was about the only name that came to mind, but his struggles were much more related to injury than being bad at baseball.

Jose Bautista was bad at baseball for 6 years until he broke out at age 29.

David Freese? Seems like the cardinals produce a lot of guys like that.

He was an injury guy too. I think he had bad ankles and was unlikely to be 100% again, which is why SD gave him up for Edmonds.

His pedigree was good because of group think. He had very pedestrian numbers in high school, but he had mono his senior year. He's a kid who was all projection because he was a great athlete, right up Hendry's alley.

I'll never forget Hendry saying and Billy Beane, "like a different breed of cat".
