The first two pitches to Soler were right down broadway and looked like they could have been strikes. Ball four was right under his chin. Looking forward to seeing the second time through the order.

@JGoro8: Tseng using change very frequently. 80-84, can add/subtract with it, make it fade, or straight for a strike. RH or LHH, either way.

@JGoro8: Cael Brockmeyer is a large human. 6'5 C. Long swing. Struggles on the inner half. 2.15-2.25 pop.

@andruwgreen: That'll do it for Pierce Johnson after six fine innings. Final line: 6.0 IP, 2 H, 0 R, 3 BB, 8 SO. 81 pitches/51 strikes & in line for win

It'd be great if Pierce could throw some more strikes.

His walk rate was 8.4% last year, and since he came back from the injury this year it's 10.5% Don't think it's going to be a long term concern.

Less of a concern than Corey Black hopefully???

No? I'd say they're pretty average.

MLB average is 7.5%. If you're above that in the minors, it's a bit of a problem.

I mean, I'd rather have that problem than not enough Ks or something, but it's not good.

but does it disqualify him from prospect status?

Soler swung out of his shoes with his first swing trying to follow up that Javybomb. Every swing he took in the AB was a hard cut. Which made the it all the more impressive that he laid off close pitches on pitches 6 and 8 to get the walk.
