Okay, so this is getting a little silly...

Prospects with legit shots at being either all-star level/average to above average position players, solid members of a major league rotation or high-end relief pitchers:

AAA

Bryant

Baez

Alcantara

Hendricks

Rivero

Vizcaino

AA

Russell

Soler

Johnson

Edwards (expected back late-July)

A+

Almora

McKinney

Vogelbach

Zastryzny

A

Schwarber

Hannemann

Tseng

Blackburn

Underwood

Paniagua

SS A-

Clifton

Rookie

Torres

Jimenez

Mejia

Add in draftees Cease, Sands, Stinnett and Steele along with DSL/VSL IFA signees Moreno, Matos and Galindo if you wish. There are reasons to pay attention at every level.

MAn Corey Black really needs to stop walking guys.

OPS since 5/20

Alcantara- .992

Baez- .900

Vogelbach - .989

Bryant -1.324

Almora not so much, but he does have a near 1.000 OPS over the last 2 weeks.

McKinney in RF batting leadoff.

McKinney

Almora

Vogelbach top 3...... who cares about 4-9 (though Marco Hernandez has hit well without walking is batting 9th).

can't wait to watch Ten live (if I can stay up after my midnight shift). Hopefully Russel and Soler are in the line-up. Really looking forward to seeing Russell's debut as a Cub.

I was just thinking about Marco Hernandez yesterday. Is he still a thing? Reasonably young and playing SS and not getting killed.

Yeah, still a shot to carve out a Ronny Cedeno type career. Can really play short.

It's a really empty batting average, though.

This is also his fifth year in the system. Unless he substantially raises his level of play, he'll be a six year FA before he earns a spot on the 40 man. Or he'll get Rule 5'd. I can't see the Cubs adding him to the roster, though, given the presence of everyone else above him.

What are the chances of Torres and/or Jimenez being bumped up to Boise in the not too distant future?

Slim. They are already insanely young for their league and they are literally kids in a foreign country for the first time.

Yeah, after all the investment the Cubs made in the AZ facilities I have to believe they're going to err towards keeping the young guys down there for the season before sending them on.

I fully expect Torres in KC to begin next year, though.

It's crazy that being the shortstop with the fourth highest upside in this system is a compliment.

Let's see...

Castro (depends how you mean "system")

Baez

Russell

Alcantara

Torres

Marco

I'd say he is at best fifth.

He's at the back end of my top 30.

Hopefully Jimenez keeps putting up Bryant-like numbers and also starts in KC.

I actually started to say fifth, but I wanted to be conservative.
