I had no problem with Law's comment but Parks is being an idiot.

I've read comments from somebody in the FO that suggest they're doing the same thing with Almora this year that they did with Castro last year. So I guess we just have to hope it has the same end result.

Screw around with his hitting approach and watch him struggle all year? I was more under the impression that they basically told Starlin to be Starlin this season and he's gone back to the player we knew and loved.

Yeah, but they're taking credit for it, as if their screwing around caused him to end up roughly where his career trajectory was taking him anyway.

"Just like Castro!" is going to be the go-to for any young player having a crappy season forever.

Yeah, going from a .755 OPS (.347 OBP) his rookie season to a .753 OPS (.323 OBP) in 2012, add some trajectory and boom, .800 OPS. You were halfway to making a fair point and then you had to go and be all Kyle about it.

Where do you think the average would be if we had a thread in October 2012 projecting Castro's 2014 OPS?

Kyle, do you know what the word "trajectory" means? Your'e the one who used it.

I think it was fair to assume Castro would add power as he ages. I don't disagree with what Kyle said.

It is only somewhat reminiscent because it's a wide stance. But Scharbers looks way cooler. Bagwell is more even with the bag and just crouching down. Schwarber is more open bodied with his right leg sort of stretched away from the plate.

I'm not gonna debate what's more useful. But as far as looks. Schwarber looks like crouching tiger waiting to STRIKE, whereas Bagwell just looks like crouching to take a [expletive].

I think they have told him that, but I think he picked up some valuable tools last season. His power has definitely come with him maturing and filling out, but I think his approach is a lot better than it was even in his best season. He's probably not ever going to walk a ton, but it looks to me like he's using a better approach to get himself into more favorable counts now. If he hits .290-.300 with an OBP of .340 and hits 20ish HRs every year, that's a hell of a valuable (and cheap) SS.

Brian Giles

exactly. It's Brian Giles with a little more crouch and holds the bat further away.
