He looks like a washed up lounge singer you see at a Holiday Inn.

Just too much classic Boston tradition for us to understand.

The owner of the Chicago Blackhawks is considering building a practice facility next to the United Center.

The proposed ice rink would also benefit the community because there is a shortage of rinks in Chicago to accommodate the growing popularity of the sport, said a spokesman for owner Rocky Wirtz's Wirtz Corp.

Before he starts construction, Rocky Wirtz would like the city and Cook County to freeze the amusement tax that’s levied on each ticket sold, the spokesman said. The two governments impose a 12 percent tax -- 9 percent from the city and 3 percent from the county. Wirtz wants to make sure the two governments don’t consider raising the tax to ease their budget woes.

The proposed facility, which would be about 70,000 square feet, would cost more than $30 million to construct, the spokesman said.

It would be built on one of the United Center’s parking lots, just northeast of the stadium and across the street from a practice facility that the Chicago Bulls are constructing. The stadium and surrounding parking lots are jointly owned by Wirtz and Jerry Reinsdorf, owner of the Bulls.

The owners also would like to put up an entertainment and retail next to the stadium but that project is on hold, Wirtz’s spokesman said.

The news was first reported by Crain's Chicago Business.

Also Raisin, we need you to be in the ears of every socal hockey fan you know trying to convince them that starting a Crawford chant in the next round is a great idea.

Before last week, I only knew one Duck fan. Now a dozen or so have popped out. Damn bandwagoners.

Same could be said about Kings fans a few years ago.

Why are they adopting an NBA schedule?

The thing that surprises me most is a Saturday primetime network game.

The double OT game 5 last year was also on a Saturday Night on NBC

Dammit to hell. I've been in Europe all this week and because of godawful start times I haven't been able to watch the last 3 games and won't be able to watch game 1. I finally get back to Chicago and only get 1 game in my first 5 nights back. Well done [expletive].

Plus the other shitty thing is that the kings have come off 2 straight grueling 7 game series with only one day off between each. This schedule allows the ample time to rest and alleviates any potential fatigue factor in the series.

Are they having to work around concerts, etc. at the two arenas? That's some NBA round one [expletive] right there

Probably, but I don't get what people are bitching about. 2 off days in a row?

Barry Gibb is at the UC on Tuesday night. The other one is tougher...no reason I can see for not playing on the 23rd other than the NHL maybe wanting both series' to have a Sunday game in the series, which means if the NHL wants to have a game on both days on the weekend, they gotta put Hawks at Kings on Saturday.

something called Romeo Santos is supposed to have a concert at 8 pm local time on the 24th. How the hell is that going to work?

LA fans leave early, so there should be plenty of room in the upper balcony.
