An overlooked part imo on all failed hit and runs is that the batter doesn't get enough blame. Sure, it's a dumb call and the majority of the blame goes on the manager, but I feel the hitter failing to make contact gets overlooked.

Well, yeah, but you're also putting the hitter in a tough position of often having to swing at a pitch he's not comfortable swinging at, which is why I'm particularly against doing it with Castro right now who is re-figuring out his happy zones.
