The top of Missouri's wish list includes Gregg Marshall, Kim Anderson and Matt Painter.

I have no idea why Anderson should be given serious consideration. If he's hired and they do well I'll gladly eat my words, but this seems like something to soothe the cranky white men.

back up the truck for Marshall

paid almost zero attention the Mizzou coaching search, and #SOURCES and other nonsense, but this is enough to kill me

RT @GoodmanESPN: UTEP coach Tim Floyd has emerged as a strong candidate at Missouri, a source told ESPN.

oh god ha ha ha

Boy that sure was a scary 3 minutes for illinois fans back when mizzou was getting a 2 seed Indiana was #1 and Iowa looked like they might not be terrible for awhile

That would be funnier if we didn't have a less than great outlook ourselves.

All I can say is its going to take one hell of an offer for a school like Missouri to get Gregg Marshall out of Wichita. I dont think he has much interest in a rebuild when he has a top 15 team coming back next year. But Tim Floyd? Id go with Howland or Kim Anderson before Floyd.

Tim Floyd is a good coach, but my guess is that he's probably down on the list. Alden can't afford to screw this up again, so he'll scrounge up as much money as possible to offer Marshall. If he says no, my money is on a re-tread like Floyd or Howland. Missouri needs to win right away, and they offer the best chance for a quick turnaround.

Yay DePaul got themselves a 4 star recruit, #103 nationally. Maybe they'll win 5 Big East games next year.

DePaul also had a student rally against the athletic department for supposedly "enabling a culture of rape". All signs point to it involving Cleveland Melvin who left the team in January. If he left the team, does that really mean they enabled anything? Doesn't seem like a Florida State situation where they covered it up so they could win games. Getting rid of your best player just after conference season began seems like at least partially handling the situation. Either way, it would be great if this scandal brought down the entire athletic department, but that's just wishful thinking on my part.

I think our outlook is pretty solid. I like Leron Black a lot, and the '15 class is looking pretty solid with a chance to be special.

Who was it UM? Chicago area?

Darrick Wood. I don't know much about him but he was a St. John's commit originally. I think he's from Maine.

Well McGary is going pro after failing a marijuana test and facing a 1 year suspension.

Sucks for Michigan. Still a tourney team I think but they could have been great next year.

So Mitch McGary is going pro because the NCAA suspended him for a year for a positive marijuana test according to an Illinois beat reporter

Weird because the only reason he got tested is because he dressed for the Tennessee and Kentucky games for moral support. If I understand correctly he wouldn't have been tested if he remained undressed. Terrible luck but if you are going to smoke pot you know the risks.

Edit: nevermind he could have been tested regardless, just random that he was asked to be tested after dressing

michigan apparently appealed and were denied even though the suspension is being changed to half a season next year. I guess we should be impressed that NCAA managed to respond to the appeal prior to the draft declaration deadline.

Why would McGary be facing such a huge suspension from the NCAA for a positive test? Athletes get arrested for possession all the time and most of the time they miss a couple games at the most.

From Dan Wetzel:

Had McGary failed a Michigan test, he would've been subject to Michigan's punishment for a first-time offender: a week away from all team activities and a suspension from 10 percent of the regular season, or in this case three games. A second offense is suspension for half a season and a third calls for permanent ineligibility at the school.

During championship tournaments or bowl games, however, the NCAA takes over and now may test not just for PEDs, but all banned drugs classes, including recreational. The NCAA penalties are also harsher.

By failing a test administered by the NCAA, rather than his school, McGary was subject to the draconian Bylaw 18.4.1.5.1, which calls for a player to be "ineligible for a minimum of one calendar year." A second offense, even for just marijuana, results in permanent banishment.

"If it had been a Michigan test, I would've been suspended three games and possibly thought about coming back," McGary said. "I don't have the greatest circumstances to leave right now [due to the injury]. I feel I'm ready, but this pushed it overboard.

Dumbest [expletive] thing ever.

An appropriate punishment is like all the wank games to start the season.
