now the illinois insiders are saying that it's Illinois for Brunson. FWIW. what a [expletive] roller coaster.

He's played it close to his chest, who knows. I'm still prepping for Villanova. Chicago has no love for the state schools.

Can't blame Chicago for Brunson

Good point. Man if we miss on him and Evans, to non blue blood schools, that's going to leave a mark.

I don't doubt that some of these insiders have info, but I've learned to take it with a huge grain of salt. By the time it makes it's way to the message boards, all the inside info has been interpreted by several people with UI bias.

Word is that Rick got a job today.

If so they are better at playing the game than we are. We are a joke when it comes to these high profile recruits. Oh well, in a few weeks Evans can do the same thing to us.

Have to agree. Wright might not be the best recruiter but he easily out maneuvered Groce.

Yeah. Not ever going to happen. I really didn't think there was much of a chance a week ago anyway.

I really think we lost him in the Snider thing, we took the bird in hand and that kind of was it with Brunson. At least they were classy about the whole thing.

Following Dee Brown is awesome on twitter. He is such a fan now. First he gets word that it's over and he's like he's going to sleep. Then he can't sleep cause he's mad the Illinois kid is leaving. Then he realizes he can't rain on the kids day and congrats him. He's as crazy as all of our fans.

but in all seriousness, this illinois curse is [expletive] legit. too crazy, nothing like this ever happens to any other team.

Sadly, we missed our chance. We needed to win in '05. Oh well, we have enough talent to be good going forward, maybe someday we will be the cool school to go to again.

True, most other schools don't ever have a shot at those guys to begin with.

Most schools don't have the single largest D1 basketball player producing city in their backyard and continue to get screwed on top tier players.

The buzz is that Jalen Coleman will commit to Illinois today.
Posted
Also, Groce is meeting with Jawun Evans today, reportedly trying to sell him on a starting backcourt with Coleman from day one. Elijah Thomas will reportedly be there too.

we were his presumptive leader for what felt like forever, then we took a D3 transfer and cooled on him; probably not wanting to get Devin Booker'd again, but still makes you shake your head

at any rate, it's hard to be critical of Beilein's approach these days

That's what I thought as well, I'm pretty shocked by even being in the running at this point. And yes, Michigan will be fine with all of those three stars that belein turns into superstars.

i had been getting spoiled with the McGary, GRIII type recruits and had hoped this would be our new normal, especially with the momentum of a championship game appearance

maybe we'll get Thornton (or Dozier!), who knows

Are these real rumors Sulley?

I've got a pretty well-connected buddy that corroborated the Jalen Coleman rumor, and Groce is definitely down in Texas with Evans today. I hadn't heard the part about Thomas being present as well.

Coleman and Jordan in the same lineup should be fun.

Would have been especially great back in the day.

how many scholarships do we still have open?
