He is, but the racist fan in me trusts the cracker more.

More seriously, FWIW, in reference to the battered fan syndrome thing, the last time the Cubs had a farm system this highly regarded, the results were pretty good - be it by trade or the players actually becoming contributors (if not short lived due to injury and awful luck and stuff).

It's more the awful luck thing than anything else; I hate that I've effectively become a variation of the "ONLY THE COBS" crowd, but sure as [expletive] seems like having a new FO and new owners has done little to alleviate the sense of "if can go wrong for the Cubs it will go wrong." Hell, if anything, it seems to even gotten worse.

I hope these guys kick that feeling right in the balls.

Are you hung up on a K rate over 146 PA? His K rate in college was lower and by all accounts, he was in "see ball, hit ball" mode. I'm not worried about his approach at all.

The big issue for me is that the Cubs face much bigger challenges in the upcoming decade than they did in the 2000s, when a lot of things broke their way (until October).

I'm not convinced the Ricketts/Epstein combination will be able to do what it takes to overcome a division full of smart GMs and the shrinking influence of money.

I went with Bryant. I think he's going to show plate discipline this year that Javy never has or will.

Initially I voted Bryant only (before I saw multiple vote option) because I'm a but concerned that Javy can't reproduce the absolutely amazing year he had last year. Then I voted for both Bryant and Baez as 1a/1b type thing, with no 3rd vote.

The poll does not take into account which name you clicked first. You essentially just voted for nobody. Since either Baez or Bryant will win. What you just did was place one chip on red and one on black, on a roulette board that doesn't have green or 0.

Those two are 1a and 1b to me so I'm . Maybe I did vote for no one, but by your logic anyone voting for both players voted for nothing, whether a third player was chosen or not. It really doesn't matter for this vote anyway unless the majority of those responding only pick the single player they would choose as #1.

Where are those Javy post adjustment BB rates at A+ and AA again that may or may not just be variance?

I agree with you to a point. Never a bad thing to keep a healthy amount of skepticism. But I'm also happy with the development going on. It's what makes these lists fun.

August (Tennessee): 1.059 OPS, 24% K%, 8% BB%

How are those AA walk rates possible, when fangraphs has his overall AA walk % at 7.9?

Best prospect? Unequivocally, Baez.

He's the closest to being a MLB player, has success at a high level, and plays a premium position.

Bryant, Almora, Soler still need to progress to surpass Baez; although, it is possible.

Just wanted to point out that Baez is so ridiculous that he apparently averages 163 games per 162 games.

Anyone else feel this way?

Also, are we ok with three votes for the #2/#3 prospects or do you want fewer votes right now?

I think at least through top 5 it should be 1 vote only, and probably through top 10

Yeah, that's kinda where I'm at.

I don't really care if there's a poll for #2, but I don't really see much reason not to have one.

Ok with me either way. It's all fun.

And oddly enough, the point of having a poll is to avoid having 100 posts saying "I agree" and forcing Raisin to count them all.
