I'm rooting against more blackhawks than I'm rooting for. It's too weird.

No Red Wings either way:)...except coach. Not hard to root against the coach though

US been close to a goal(s)?
Yes...but Canada has been the better team so far.

Duncan Keith is a super stud...it really shows on this kind of stage more than in the NHL I think

Rough Olympics for Kane. Looked good early on but the breakaway miss against Russia, the shutout against Canada and the two missed penalty shots in the Bronze medal game are rough to take.

Is 2016 the year Chicago was bidding for was that a later Games? It annoys me that a summer city like Chicago or winter city like Denver/Vail/Aspen already have a majority of the infrastructure/buildings in place yet can not get even a 2nd look. The IOC is so corrupt its maddening.

the cities have to bid for the games, and the USOC has to put them forward. i think the US's best shot at a winter games is going to be Anchorage. the problem is that winter comes to anchorage like summer comes to the sahara.

Don't they bitch about the preparations for almost every Olympic city/World Cup country that isn't in Europe or North America?

I mean I kind of like seeing Rio get knocked a bit because I thought Chicago would have been a better host city (and I'm obviously very biased) but I'm sure they will be fine.

I would not assume that at all. Brazil is a mess, and Rio specifically is a horribly run city. They don't have the control over their population that China has, and their plutocracy is not as powerful as Russia's. Rio was always going to be a likely poorly run site.

Not getting the Olympics in Chicago was a good thing; every city that hosts them takes a HUGE hit money-wise and almost never actually makes it back and Chicago is already broke enough as it is.

US-based olympics are the only ones that have made money -- and the only ones that have massive stadium infrastructure in place beforehand. Not sure about the impact on the individual cities, though.

I'd have a feeling that would vary depending on the city's financial situation, and Chicago's is bordering on disaster. Plus, like you said, having the necessary infrastructure in place would be critical, and having dumps like Wrigley and stupidly open stadiums like Soldier Field kill Chicago even just being able to host more American sports events, much less something like the Olympics.
